Luke sat their on the bed with her with his mouth wide open. He was unable to believe what Sapphire just said. No words were able to come out of his mouth. However, he didn't back away from her because he loved her so much that he wanted to understand her.
"What do you mean you think Sophia can see them?"
"I think she moved here to be my friend and help me understand my gift when I turned 18" she said "I called my mom after all these years because she can see them also and she charmed my brother so he can't"
"Are you going to ask her?"
"I don't know" she cried even more
"Want me to ask her or talk to your mom about Sophia"
"I just don't know Luke" she lied down on the bed with her head on a pillow. She immediately fell asleep in the middle of their conversation.
Luke lied down next to her and placed his arm around her in order to protect her.The next morning Luke woke up and met Michael in the kitchen. They were getting food and he decided to ask him about Sophia. Michael mentioned that he didn't really know much about Sophia. Michael cared for Sophia but didn't want to betray her trust.
At around noon Luke got Sapphire's mothers number and called her. The first time he called her there was no answer so he waited and tried again. When she answered she thought it was Sapphire however it was Luke on the phone.
"Hello i'm Luke we met yesterday, and I need to talk to you about something extremely important"
"I can meet with you in about 30 minutes if you'd like to speak"
Luke got in the car and took Sophia with him however he made her sit in the car. She wasn't allowed to come inside until he texted her that it was okay. Her mother came over and sat down with him.
"So what did you need to talk about?"
"Can Sapphire's friend Sophia also see ghosts? Did you send her to Sapphire?"
"It's complicated"
"No it's not do you even care about your daughter"
"Of course I care about my daughter...she's everything to me"
"You left her, how special can she really be to you?" He raised his voice "and do not say it's complicated because I will walk out and you'll never speak to us again"
"Okay yes, Sophia can see ghosts as well"
"How do you know Sophia?"
"She's a bit older then Sapphire so she already knew about her gift and when I got out of the nut house I could see that she held this gift as well"
He just sat there staring down at his phone when he finally got the courage to text Sophia to come inside. When she came in she sat down next to Luke in the booth. She was staring at Sapphire's mom the entire time until she couldn't stop staring at the table without looking up.
"Hello Sophia" she said
"Hi, nice to see you"
"Have you been embracing or hiding your gift"
"Mostly avoiding but I've been really busy lately and I don't have time to help dead people at the moment"
Luke cut Sophia off of her next sentence and began speaking to Sapphire's mother again.
"Are you going to try and stay in Sapphire's life because that girl has been through a lot since you left and she doesn't need you ruining her life" he said "and i'm not saying this to be rude but Sapphire has Sophia to help her and she has her family to support her"
"I will embrace my gift in order to help my friend" Sophia said
"We should get going me and Sophia have to meet our friends somewhere" Luke said leaving the table
Sophia and Luke left the cafe and went back to the car. She got in the drivers seat and started driving to the studio. The first few minutes were extremely quiet because none of them knew what to say to each other.
"What the hell was that about?" Sophia asked
"What? Last night i find out my girlfriend can see ghosts. Now i find out her best friend who helped get us back together was basically sent to her like a fucking present in the mail" Luke shouted
"Look i'm sorry I wasn't allowed to say anything. I was only supposed to be around until she was safe enough to take care of herself but things changed"
Luke put his head back on the seat and sat back letting out a huge sigh. Sophia put her hand on Luke's shoulder and just kept saying that she was sorry and that he could trust that she was going to protect Sapphire. He only felt half assured but for the rest of the day he and the guys stayed in the studio working on the songs.
Sophia went straight home to find Sapphire. When she got there she was in her room holding her ears with her knees at her chin. Once Sophia walked in their were about 7 ghosts standing over Sapphire yelling at her all and once. She saw them all and ordered them to stop and leave. They vanished into thin air and Sapphire finally let go of her ears. Sophia sat down next to her and hugged her so tightly. She laid Sapphire's head down on her lap so she could relax for a while.
"Sapphire you need to remember your in control. You need to know that you can't help them all but make them think you can so they can leave you alone"
"How am I supposed to do that? They are everywhere. I still hear them right now taunting me as I speak"
"What do you mean their no ghosts in here right now?"
"You don't hear it? How can you not hear them? Their shouting at me" she covered her ears
"Then tell them to go away. Say you can't help when their all shouting. Make them trust the real you to help when you can"
Speaking the the spirits: "you all need to stop screaming, I can only help one at a time and i'm in the middle of helping somebody right now. There's nothing I can do at this moment"
She took a deep breath and finally the voices were gone. She sat up straight sitting on the bed and Sophia still sat with her. They were talking about the gift for a while and Sophia finally told her the truth about their friendship. However, Sophia still felt that their friendship was as real as can be.
