"He raised his hands, and they all stood up at once," Jon breathed. Ella sat next to her brother in the mess hall as he retold the horrors of Hardhome to Samwell Tarly.

"Tens of thousands of them, Sam," Ella sighed. "The biggest army in the world."

"So, what are you going to do?" Sam questioned the Lord Commander.

"We're all going to hope they don't learn how to climb the Wall." Jon gulped his ale, trying to rid his mind of the images of wights and the Night King.

"And the dragonglass?" Sam asked.

Ella watched as Jon's eyes flickered to her. Jon shook his head. "No one's ever getting that back now," Jon sighed. "It wouldn't have mattered, anyways. Not unless we have a mountain of it."

"But you said Ella killed a white walker," Sam reminded the White Wolf.

"Yes, but it was with Longclaw," Ella sighed. Her blue orbs gazed at her brother's sword lying in front of her. What made this particular sword so extraordinary that it could kill a white walker?

"The White Walkers shattered steel axes like they were glass, but Longclaw-"

"It's Valyrian steel," Sam informed the Snow twins. "How many Valyrian steel swords are left in the Seven Kingdoms?"

"Not enough," Ella stated. She remembered her father's sword bore the same distinct markings down the middle of the blade. "Jon, Father's sword was Valyrian steel. I wonder if-"

"It's gone, Ella," Jon said bitterly. "We're not getting it back."

Silence filled the room until Ella rose from her seat. "I'm going to visit the Wildlings with Asena. Make sure they're settling in."

Ella bid farewell to her brother and Sam. "Be back before sundown, Ella! The creatures in the woods come out early this time of year!" Her brother called to her.

"I will!" Ella shouted back. A smile grew on her face as she entered the chilling courtyard, escaping the warmth from inside the halls. Ella grew accustomed to the cold weather, and it filled her with joy as the winds blew around her.

Ella fetched Asena from the kennels, and the pair walked for miles until they reached the wildling camp. Ella had not seen Tormund since the wildlings marched through Castle Black, and she missed the company of her giant wildling friend.

Tormund was not the only reason for her visit. The poor girl needed some space from Jon and Castle Black. Ever since their return from Hardhome, Jon questioned her every chance he had. He was simply curious how she could survive a fire, without even a single scratch. Ella did not know herself, but she did not want to discuss these matters with her brother.

Secondly, it was hard for Ella to be in Castle Black without Maester Aemon. Sam informed the Snow twins of his untimely death during their journey to Hardhome. Ella came to terms with the elderly man's death, but she did not want to be in a place that reminded her so much of the old Targaryen man.
