Requested by elwheeler353 I literally loved writing this(:❤❤

"I'm Betty Cooper, new here" the blonde explained, shoulders hunched as she looked around frantically at the walls filled with graffiti and words that she would never repeat. The woman at the desk raised an eyebrow in question, staring at the girl's pink sweater and white pencil skirt.

"Right...well here is your timetable and your hall pass. Just go through the detectors and then to class" she explained. Betty frowned in confusion but her concern was soon cleared up when she turned around, met with two men at metal detector gates. Gulping back her dry throat, the frightened girl made her way forward through the doors.

"You're free to go" one man nodded when the detector didn't beep, earning a scared smile from her as her eyes flickered to the table full of confiscated pocket knives, drugs and other miscellaneous items. Betty had never felt so many eyes on her at once, keeping her head down as she shuffled down the crowded corridors past people clad in leather jackets.

"Alright give the girl some space. Sweetpea move" a pink-haired girl sighed, pushing past the crowds to reach the new girl. She gave her a sweet smile and extended her hand out "Hi, I'm Toni Topaz"

"Betty, Betty Cooper" she replied, shaking her hand lightly "Would you mind showing me to my class? It's my first one here"

"Yeah of course" the serpent nodded, taking her planner. "Oh you're in my English class with my friends, I'll introduce you" she offered as they walked to the location of the lesson. The two girls got to know each other a bit more, Betty deciding she was very kind but also seemed slightly feisty. They entered the room and after a quick introduction to the teacher, Toni led her to the back where a group were already sat. There was one tall boy who had a neck tattoo, a shorter boy clad in a checkered flannel shirt, and a raven-haired boy with piercing blue eyes.

"Betty this is Sweetpea, Fangs, and Jughead. Yes, they are as weird as their names but don't worry they don't bite" she spoke causing Betty to giggle. "Hi nice to meet you all" she responded but before they could answer the lesson had started. Betty quickly sat in the seat next to Jughead, placing her bag down and pulling out her notebook.

By lunch, Betty had made it through 4 classes, 3 in which Toni was there but the last one she had alone. She walked out of the room pushing through to make her way to the cafeteria, suddenly halted by two men.

"What's a preppy northsider like you doing here huh?" one asked, crossing his arms. She gulped nervously, fiddling with her bag strap.

"My mum had to move here recently..." she explained sadly, biting down on her nails as her hands curled into tight fists. It was true, since Hal left with Polly her mother now had no choice but to find cheaper accommodation as her wages just weren't enough to keep up with the expensive bills on the Northside of town.

"You have no place here blondie, so get off our turf and stay out our way before you regret it" he scowled at her.

"What exactly will she be regretting?" a voice called out from behind her. Betty turned her head to see the same pair of ocean eyes, but instead they were glaring right at the two boys. She noticed the immediate change in the two, watching them shrink back under his glare "Nothing"

"That's what I thought. She's part of our group, so think again before messing with her. Got it?" he replied, narrowing his eyes at them. When the two nodded and departed quickly, Betty let out a sigh of relief. "Thank you Jughead"

"No problem, just typical bullies. People around here aren't the biggest fan of northsiders" he chuckled, running a hand through his raven locks. She nodded understanding why, slowly unclenching her fists.

"Betty...your hands..." he spoke worriedly, grabbing one of her wrists to see the crescent shaped blood marks. Her eyes grew wide, withdrawing her hand from his tight grip "It's fine"

"It doesn't look fine" he whispered "Let me clean them up for you...please"

His insistence soon payed off as she let him lead her to an empty classroom, placing both their bags down. He panicked not having anything to clean her wounds, pouring some of his water out of his bottle onto a tissue.

"This might sting" he warned gently, dabbing at the blood with the damp tissue as careful as he could. She sat in silence in fear that he would question her over it, watching his concentration as he cleaned the damaged skin.

"Does this happen often?" he questioned as he moved onto her other hand.

"Sometimes, only when I'm panicking or stressed. I'm sorry" she mumbled, ashamed that she'd allowed him to see.

"Hey no, don't ever apologize for things like this. It's not your fault, they caused you that stress. They won't bother you again, I promise" he consoled, tilting her chin up. She gave him a grateful smile in return, thinking he was so kind and calming to talk to.

"Why are you being so nice to me?" she asked in a whisper, not understanding what she did to deserve such kindness.

"Any friend of Toni's is welcome to our group, you've gotta have allies around here or you'll be targeted. Plus, no one deserves to be treated like that" he shrugged, finishing the cleaning of her hands. "There you go, just be careful so the bleeding doesn't start again"

"Thank you" she nodded, though her hands stayed in his for some reason. When they finally stood apart, he grabbed his bag. "Come sit with us for lunch?"

"Let me get this straight, you want to dress like me?" Toni asked as she sat down on her bed, the blonde sat opposite her.

"Yeah, I just want to change up my style a bit. Every other girl dresses that way and I stick out like a sore thumb in all this pink" Betty nodded, excited to have a sleepover with her new best friend. Toni narrowed her eyes suspiciously before smirking.

"And this has nothing to do with a certain blue eyed serpent?" she asked knowingly, having seen the giggles and glances Betty always gave him.

"No! Okay maybe a little, but it's mostly to fit in more" she admitted, biting down on her lip slightly taking in the taste of her strawberry lip-gloss.

"Okay B, you've got a deal. There's no pressure, so if you don't like it then your usual style is perfect already" Toni agreed, excited to take her friend on a shopping spree and get Jughead out of his 'love doesn't exist' phase.

The next day at school Betty didn't feel like the bubblegum pink girl anymore, she felt more confident than ever. Especially when Jughead's eyes trailed over her body, taken back by the change.

"Betts...wow" he chuckled in a low tone, running a hand through his curls. She blushed profusely looking down at the floor.

"Still shy as ever" he teased, laying a hand on her arm. She laughed rolling her eyes. the tension she held beginning to wear away. "You like it then?"

"You look amazing, but dress how you want to Betts" he smiled, wrapping an arm around her shoulder as they walked to class. They didn't share the first period together but Jughead still insisted on walking her to the room after the incident, though Betty had assured him she had pepper spray in her bag.

"Thank you as always Juggie, now go before you're late" she ordered, prodding his chest with a stern look. He chuckled grabbing her hand "One thing first" he whispered, holding her hand against his chest as he pressed their lips together. Betty gasped, taking a moment before kissing back softly, in shock but complete happiness.

"See you later beautiful" he whispered, giving her another soft kiss before he strolled away with a wide grin on his face. Betty stood with her books pressed against her chest, eyes wide and cheeks bright red. Wow.

A/N This wasn't supposed to go up until next week but I wanna cheer you all up because I know a lot of us are sad about bughead. Hopefully, they are in it for the long haul!
