"B you look beautiful" the raven haired girl whispered, pinning the last strand of her best friends blonde locks back. Both girls couldn't help but tear up, pulling each other into a tight embrace. It seemed like only yesterday that they were walking the halls of Riverdale High on the first day of freshman year and now they were stood here getting ready for the most special day of Betty's life. She was getting married to Jughead Jones, her everything. The joy in the air was soon interrupted when the door swung open and in walked Alice Cooper, smoothing down her dress.

"Elizabeth you're not even dressed yet, hurry up" she tutted at the mess of the dressing table, walking over and starting to clean up all of the clutter. "Sorry mum we were finishing my hair, what do you think?" she asked, turning around to show the back. Alice paused and tucked more back, frowning still "It's a bit...." she trailed off as the two girls looked at her confused "A bit what?"

"Nothing dear" she shook her head, going back to cleaning up. Betty's gaze dropped to the floor as Veronica narrowed her eyes at the woman, grabbing Betty's arm and quickly removing her from the tense situation to put on her dress. So the raven haired girl, who was obviously appointed of maid of honour, and the disapproving mother of the bride sat in a less than pleasant silence as they waited for the reveal of Betty's dress. She walked out in a long snow white dress, sleeveless with little jewels lining the top and a trail behind her. "Wow B, you look....stunning. Literally a goddess!" Veronica squealed, hugging her tightly once again. "It's lovely darling...but where is your veil?" Alice asked curiously, looking her daughter up and down.

"Oh I'm not having one. I prefer it like this" Betty explained sweetly, smoothing down her dress. Alice frowned and shook her head, causing Veronica to send her a stern glare. "Well I think you look gorgeous as you are Betty, veil or no veil. Jughead is going to drop to the floor" Veronica grinned. Betty giggled and nodded, thinking dreamily of her husband to be.

"Well I suppose you don't have much to impress" Alice shrugged, checking her red manicured nails. "What's that suppose to mean?" Veronica asked angrily, becoming sick of Alice's snaky comments and her ability to constantly put Betty down. "Oh well just that he hasn't got the highest expectations. No one like him has" she continued as if it was something so obvious.

"Excuse me" Betty whispered, walking out of the room swiftly and down the corridor. She hadn't wanted to let her mother ruin her spirits, Jughead and Veronica having constantly reminded her it wasn't a day for Alice to take control of, but it still got to her a lot. She just wanted her to approve, for her to tell them how happy she was for them and how proud she was of her daughter. Betty simply craved the approval and acceptance from her mother that she was never granted even as a child. Her own mother wasn't even excited about this wedding day.

After a long scolding from Veronica, Alice left to guide the guests into the venue. Betty had calmed herself down, fixing her makeup before she walked to the entrance of the church and waited outside nervously. Her heart was beating rapidly and goosebumps formed on her arms in the cold breeze, taking deep breaths to calm herself. This is my day, our day she kept reminding herself.

"We're starting in 10!" Alice urged, walking out to make sure they knew the order of who was walking when and where to. "Oh Elizabeth fix your hair. It's all out of place" she scolded, Betty staying calm as she smoothed her hair back. "Oh and fix-" she started but this time she didn't get to finish. A fuse blew in Betty's tolerance, causing her to completely self destruct.

"Fix what? My hair again? Makeup, dress, jewellery? Or maybe even the man I'm marrying! Somehow I think that's the only real problem you have, that I'm marrying Jughead. You're my mother! You're suppose to be happy for me and proud of me! All I want- no all I've ever wanted is for you to accept me and him as a couple, he's everything to me mum. Just for once get your head out of my business and get your own life!" she burst out, flailing her arms around in the air. Alice stood there speechless as her daughter scoffed and stormed away, her long dress floating behind her.

"You couldn't just act civil for one day could you?" Veronica asked angrily with gritted teeth, running into the church to find Jughead. The couple hadn't seen each other in a few days as Betty had been staying with Veronica to organise everything so Jughead had Archie staying over. Betty would need her love to help get herself back on track. "Jug, I need to speak to you" she interrupted him and her own boyfriend, Jughead frowning and leading her away to the side.

"Betty just blew up at her monster of a mother, I don't know where she went" she sighed, fiddling with her pearls that hung around her neck. Jughead let out a deep sigh, running a hand through his already styled hair "Give us some time, I'll get through to her" he assured her, pacing out of the church as his head turned left and right to find the blonde he loved so dearly.

His eyes set on her, a tissue scrunched up in her fingers as she wiped away tears, sitting on a small bench. He stood there admiring her beauty, how the dress floated around her in the breeze, how strands of loose hair framed her tearful cheeks. "Hey love" he murmured, sitting down next to his fiance. The silence didn't last long before Betty leaned her head on his shoulder and felt him pull her onto his lap being careful of her dress.

"It's not up to her Betts, its our wedding. Don't let her ruin it" he whispered, pressing soft kisses to her cheek before nudging his nose against it. "I just want her to be here and be supportive" she sniffled, wiping her eyes.

"I know, but she won't cause an outburst if there's loads of people around. She can be here, but she can't ruin this" he replied, running his hand down her arm. Betty nodded and leant up, kissing him softly as she shivered in the cold. Being the gentleman he always was, Jughead removed his suit jacket and draped it over her shoulders causing a giggle to leave her lips. "You look very handsome" she whispered, running her hands over his broad shoulders.

"Mm you look beautiful, making me speechless Cooper" he grinned as he connected their lips again, finding a strong rythm in their kiss. "Soon to be Jones" she reminded between kisses, hooking her arms around his neck. He chuckled against her lips, his hands roaming down her body as the two kissed with so much passion and craving for each other.

They jumped apart at the clearing of a throat, turning to see their two best friends smirking at them with their arms crossed. "are you forgetting you have a wedding to be at?" Archie asked. Betty giggled and climbed off of Jughead's lap, kissing his cheek. "No, we were just taking care of some arrangements" Jughead smirked as Betty gave him his suit jacket back. Veronica rolled her eyes and separated the two, walking them back to their positions at the church.

As sweet sounds of melodies sounded through the church, Veronica and Jellybean walked down first followed by Cheryl and Toni with their arms linked. Polly walked down holding Juniper's hand who was throwing flower petals and carrying Dagwood who was grinning at all the attention and 'aws' he was getting from everyone. This was her big moment, Betty's time to walk down by herself against tradition. She took a deep breath as she clutched her bouquet, stepping in time to the music towards Jughead as she avoided the gaze of Alice.

As the man gazed at his fiance, he knew right then and there that this was forever. He didn't like to put a time stamp on something so beautiful, but there was no way he would ever let go of her. They were in this together, the pain and the anger, the laughter and the joy. Together through it all, because that's how they coped. That's when they are at their happiest, when they're together.
