(Second part of break my heart❤)

I took a week off of writing because I haven't had a break in a while and have a lot to revise, hope you are all safe and well❤

"Did you hear what she did?"

"Wow she lost it"

"There was definitely something going on between them two"

"Who does she think she is?"

Weeks after the party incident everyone was talking about it, how the innocent girl turned sour in a matter of seconds. Students speculated over why it happened, accused Betty of trying to get to Jughead, whispered behind her back. It was hell, almost making her miss when she was invisible. When people pushed past her in corridors, forgot her name like she was just a fly on the wall. At least then it was less hassle.

As for Jughead, that was a lost cause. He tried to reach out at first by calls and messages to which she ignored, leading to his eventual choice to give up. She wished she could talk to him, but he'd broken her heart and she just couldn't put herself through that again. Not even for the boy she loved, it was just too much.

"Well well well, look who's decided to show her face" Veronica smirked crossing her arms as she approached the lunch table Betty sat at- alone of course. Betty kept her head down ignoring her, wishing she had never lashed out.

"You know you ruined my dress right? It was an expensive one, and you showed me up at my own party. Plus you're the reason me and Jughead got into an argument" she remarked with narrowed eyes.

"I'm sorry" Betty whispered fiddling with the sleeves of her hoodie, knowing if she tried to stand up to Veronica she'd make her life even more hellish.

"Veronica leave her. She hasn't done anything" Jughead sighed tugging at his girlfriend's arm.

"Why are you always defending her? She ruined my party" Veronica argued pulling her arm from his grasp. Betty looked up watching the two argue, slowly chewing on her pasta.

"You know what forget it, do what you want. Clearly defending her means more to you" she scoffed, strutting away. Jughead let out a long sigh sitting down opposite Betty, resting his head in his hands. She watched him in silence, not sure what to say or whether she should even speak at all. Instead she slid her crisps over to him, tapping his arm.

The boy looked up, breaking into a smile when he saw the crisps before immediately starting to eat them. She giggled at how he shoveled the food into his mouth, not a care in the world.

"Oh this is funny is it? I had chemistry Cooper, I'm starving" he defended rolling his eyes at her. She giggled again shaking her head as she took another bite of the pasta bowl she had bought.

"You gonna talk to me? Or just sit there mocking me with laughs and looks?" he asked raising an eyebrow. She bit her lip shaking her head in refusal, looking back away from him.

"Betty please, I'm trying here" he pleaded placing his hand on top of her own. She looked around hoping Veronica hadn't seen that, but she seemed to be somewhere else.

"I can't" she whispered but left her hand where it was, reveling in the feel of his warm touch.

"Why not?" he questioned rubbing his thumb gently over her knuckles, his eyes wide and hopeful.

"People already think I was trying to take you away from Veronica and....and well it just hurts too much. You don't get it Jug, you never did" she shrugged sadly.
