033; ditch the van

Alexa's POV:

"Sofia, what do we do?!" Christina yells as we are still speeding quickly down the road, not sure what to do.

"I don't know Chris!" Sofia yells back.

"We need to ditch the van." I say finally, after having that thought in my head for a while.

"What? We can't just ditch the van, we are literally driving it." Christina looks at me like I am crazy.

"Look, there's a forest right up ahead. So, we jump out while the van is still driving, go into the forest because then they can't reach us." I explain as I can hear the sirens from the cop cars get louder.

"I mean, it's worth a try." Sofia says from the front. I look over at Christina who is processing the plan.

"Fine, but if I die, you are to blame." Christina says, which I quickly nod my head to.

"Okay, the forest is up a few feet, I'm going to quickly make a 360 with the car and we jump out the back doors." Sofia explains as Christina and I open the back doors.

"How are you getting out?" I ask as I see the people in the cop car talking on the walkie-talkies.

"I'll super speed out, don't worry." Sofia mentions, "Okay guys get ready, on the count of three."

Christina and I look at each other a take a huge breath waiting for Sofia to make her count down.

"Okay, 3, 2,..." Sofia counts and says one.

She skirts the car into a 360, having the back of the van end up facing the forest, Christina and I leap out as the car keepings spinning.

We land, directly on the side of the road and run off into the forest. I'm pretty sure Christina ended up falling over when she landed but she saved it with a summer-salt.

Christina and I run off and wait to see where Sofia is. I can see farther down the road the van is still spinning but coming to a stop.

"Where is she?" I ask looking for signs of Sofia.

"Behind you." Sofia says behind as making Christina and I jump.

"God, can you not scared me like that." Christina sighs out of breath.

"Sorry." she chuckles, "Come on, we need to move." we start marching through the forest but try to stay along the side of it so we don't get lost.

After arguing what to do and getting farther away from where we originally started, I can see we are all tried and can't keeping moving forward without knowing where the others are.

"I think we need to stop, the others are still in trouble and we don't know what's happening." Christina says leaning against the tree, stopping are movement.

"Not to mention we lost all the bags in the van." I point out making Christina groan.

"Shit, I forgot about that. Hopefully we can get things once everyone is back." Sofia says sitting down at the stump of a tree.

"So what's the plan?" I ask.

"I don't know. They could be anywhere by now." Sofia sighs and leans her head back.

"Can't you like super speed to go find them?" Christina asks.

"I mean yeah, I can I guess. You think they are still a few blocks from the store?" Sofia asks standing back up and brushing the leaves that were stuck to her legs.

"Probably, you can at least check." I shrug.

"Okay, I'll do that. Just stay here because I don't know when I'll be back and I don't want to lose you." Sofia implies, "Also if I find the others I need to know where to take them to reunite everyone."

"Got it, no moving from this spot." Christina nods and gives Sofia a thumbs up.

"Okay good luck, and don't die or get taken." I beam at Sofia who laughs and runs off into the distance.

"I wish I could run like that." Christina sighs as Sofia is no longer in sight.

"Get struck by lightning and maybe you will." I comment.

"I think I'll pass."

Sofia's POV:

I take off from everyone and try to make my way over to store we were previously parked out earlier.

But before I can reach it there is a line of cop cars surrounding the areas, making me stop and hide behind a pole, trying not to be seen.

"We have three on the back of the store." one of the officers say into the walkie-talkies.

"Play the sound if Jack Avery is one of them, and then slowly make your way to corner them." the person on the other side says to the officer.

"Copy that." the officer says and picks up a small square device.

"What does that do again?" a nearby cop asks the guy holding the device.

"It sends out a sound only the kid with Heightened Hearing can hear." he says back while adjusting the dials on the device.

"Will it harm him?" the other cop asks. He seems nice, maybe he doesn't want to hurt us.

"Only if it plays for a long time, it could cause hearing damage. But that's only if it is on for a good hour." the officer says and presses the device on button, making the sound play.

Clearly I can't hear it but wherever Jack is, he is probably in pain. Poor Jack.

I suddenly feel a tap on my shoulder and quickly turn around punching whatever touched me. I take a second look at the people only for it to be Corbyn and Tate.

"OW! Damn, you can punch." Corbyn yells holding his jaw where I punched him.

"CORBYN! TATE!" I quietly scream and pull them both into a hug, "What happened to helping the others?"

"We were going to go help, but the cop cars were already here and we didn't want to get caught. Where's Christina, where's Alexa?" Corbyn asks noticing his girlfriend wasn't around.

"They are in the forest down the road, we had to ditch the van to get away." I say as I turn back to the cops, who are now no where to be seen. They're gone.

"Where did they go?" I stand up tall and look around.

I walk to where the cop cars were placed and see if they are in sight still.

Tate and Corbyn look around with me but before we could say anything a gunshot goes off in the distance.

"What was that?!" Tate screams turning towards the sound of the shot.

"I think they just found the others." I say nervously as I make eye contact with Corbyn as we both know what probably happened.

The three of us take off towards the sound to find the worst scene possible.

The cars are surrounding our three friends with one of them bleeding out on the pavement.
