Zach's POV:
The device wasn't turning off and it was just the eleven of us in the room. The guards plus Thomas have exited, probably the best idea but we had to try to stop it before it destroyed the whole world.
The others were surrounding the machine, trying to break it by pulling off random parts that looked important. Daniel and Sofia were by the control panel, discussing something in a hushed voice.
"Sofia, switch it off!" Corbyn yelled from above the device. He had flown up there to find a good spot to break it. Nothing was working yet.
"It won't work! You guys have to shut it off from the inside of it!" she yelled, a panic laced in her voice. We've been trying to do that but nothing was working.
I was next to Alexa, who was pulling a few wires. We didn't even have time to have a conversation as the timer was slowly counting down to our doom.
"Guys, you have 30 seconds!" Sofia yelled from the side lines. She moved from her spot at the control panel to in front of the device, watching us as we all tried to find the main source of the device.
"It's not working!" Tate yelled from the base of the device, pulling out a wire. There were many parts laid out across the ground, all looking important but it seemed none of them caused a dent in the machine.
"It's going to activate!" Jack yelled, backing away from the decide all the way to where Sofia stood. We all started coming off it one by one, the device still going to go off when the timer hit zero.
We failed.
"We need to get out of here." Jonah commented to the group, motioning with his hands for us to run to the nearest exit. He started pushing Tate when I got an idea.
If I was able to to contain the blast of the device with my force field, it would stop the device from creating its storm. I know I probably wouldn't make it back but I had to try. It's better for one person to be gone and not millions.
"I can try to stop it! I could use my force field." I yelled to the group. They all stopped and stared.
None of them had a comment except for Daniel, "NO! You're coming with us, let the device go off!" he seemed pretty certain he won't let me stay, but that wasn't his choice.
"No! I have to try Daniel! Go, I'll stay behind!" I yelled, using a little bit of my telekinesis to push the group towards the door.
As my friends reached the door, they didn't move but instead wait for me as if they thought I would come. I didn't move my feet, instead I raised my hands and a blue force field was being created around the device.
"Get out of here! I don't know if I can hold!" I yelled. The others hesitated to leave the me behind but most likely decided it wouldn't be good if they all ended up dead.
I thought they all left, I thought everyone had gotten out safe. That was until I felt a pair of hands drape around my torso. They were small and delicate, belonging to a certain blonde. Her smell filled my senses, knowing this smell by heart. But if she was here, then that meant. . .
"Alexa! What the hell, GO!" I yelled. I couldn't lose her. Even if I was gone, she still had a life to live and I had to let her go that. Whether it was with or without me.
"I'm not leaving you!" she told me. Her arms squeezed tighter around my waist, her head was inching towards the crook of my neck, her small breaths tickling my skin.
My hands were laid out in front of me, getting tried of creating such a big force field. Her being there kept me going, pushing my strength past it's threshold. I let out a small grunt and continued to contain the device in my force field.
