Alexa's POV:

I arrived at the hospital a few minutes after I got the call from Jack. I hope Zach was okay. He is really the only idiot I would know to actually get struck by lightning.

I headed to the front desk to ask if Zach was already admitted in, "Hi, do you know if there is a Zachary Herron that has been checked in?" I ask the lady at the desk.

"No, there hasn't. Sorry." She responds. I sigh and walk away to the waiting room. I open my phone to see if there are any updates from Jack, but he hasn't called or texted me. He better be okay.

I waited for another 10 minutes before any commotion happened. Two stretchers were rushed into the hospital and there were doctors yelling. I look over at the people on the stretchers and burst out crying. Zach and Jack were both unconscious and badly injured, holding on to their lives. But that's not even what pushed me over the edge.

Jack was okay, you know besides being unconscious and injured, but Zach was a different story. On his stretchers he was uncontrollably shaking and twitching. I heard one of the doctors say he as going into cardiac arrest. He was dying.

I ran to him, knowing the only thing I wanted to do was be there for him. Tears blurred my vision as I followed the stretcher down the hallway, entering a room. The sound of a dead heart beat filled the room as I pushed through doctors. There was one nurse who spotted me and pushed me back out of the room.

"You can't be in here." the nurse said to me with a cautious voice. I just needed to see Zach. I need to know he is okay.

"NO! I need to see him! I.. -he...., please. I can't lose him!" I cry to the women. Her face turns to sympathy, but she still keeps me outside the room.

I fell down to the floor. I can't lose Zach. He's my best friend. I can't keep myself together knowing the last thing I heard from him was his dying heart beat.

The nurse helped me off the floor and walked me out to the waiting room, sitting me down in a chair. I tried to calm myself down, but every breath I took was just ended up coughing. The nurse kneeled down to my eye level with her hand on my shoulder.

"You can help. What's your friends name?" she asked me. I looked up at her through my tears and wiped them away.

"Zachary Herron. He's 18." I say.

"What's your relation to him and does he have any past injuries we should know about?" she asks me again.

"I'm his best friend. I don't know any injuries you should know about." I muffle out. The lady thanks me and tells she will give me the update on Zach as soon as possible.

"Wait, do you know what happened to my other friend?" I ask her.

"The one with the curly hair, nose ring?" she questions me, I nod my head.

"By the looks of it he was too struck by lightning. I'm so sorry this happened to you and your friends. I'll give you the quickest update possible." She walks away leaving me alone in the waiting with some other girl who was crying.

She had pretty black-ish hair and her head in her hands and leaning over her knees.

"Are you okay?" I ask her, even though clearly she is not. She looked up at me with big brown eyes. They were all red and puffy from crying. She shook her head

"My boyfriend....was struck by lightning." she cry's out.

"Really? My friends were struck by lighting too." I let out a laugh out. My crying had calmed down and I think I was now in shock. I mean I was laughing about someone getting struck by lightning.

The girl let's put a laugh as well through her tears.

"What are the chances we both have people we care about get struck by lighting." the girl says. I wonder how many people were struck by lighting this night.

"I'm Alexa." I say to her.

"I'm Christina."

I suddenly realized I needed to do something. I pulled out my phone and called Jack's girlfriend.

"Alexa. Hey, what's up?" Gabbie asks me. I let out a small cry. She had no idea what was happening.

"Jack and Zach both got struck by lightning. You need to come to the hospital. Now." I say into the phone. Gabbie quickly agrees and hangs up.

"Is one of them your boyfriend?" I hear Christina ask me.

"No, but Zach is my best friend." I comment. Christina raises her eyebrow at me. I roll my eyes. "Nothing more. Strictly best friends."

"Okay, whatever you say." she chuckles, showing a small bit of happiness in her sad eyes.

The two of us stayed in the waiting room for about 30 minutes talking about what happened with each of us.

"I feel so bad. I feel like it's my fault Corbyn was struck." Christina cry's. I was rubbing her back and having slight tears fall down.

Our thoughts were broken when another rush was started in the hospital. A boy was on a stretcher, being pulled through the room. He had a huge blood stain on the side of his body. All the medics rushed him down the hallway to go into a room.

A girl was slowly walking in behind him, looking lost. I decided to be nice and walked over to her.

"Hey. What happened?" I asked her. She had pretty blonde hair and dark roots.

"My boyfriend was hit by lighting." she said quietly, I think she was still in shock.

"Wow. Join the club." I pointed over at Christina, who waved at us. The girl let out a laugh and followed me to the group.

"I'm Tate." she said taking the seat next to me.

"I'm Alexa." I say.

"Christina."

"So both of your boyfriends were struck by lighting?" Tate asked us. Christina nod their heads.

"Well, none of the boys are my boyfriends. I am one of the guys best friend. But I did call the girlfriend of one of the other boys, so we will have another member" I joke. She nods and yawns.

"You look tried. You should go to bed." Christina says to Tate. Tate nods and her head falls on my shoulder.

"I'm going to wait for my friend Gabbie. You should go to sleep Chris." I say to the girl. She nods and quickly falls asleep.

About 5 minutes later, Gabbie ran into the hospital waiting room, tears in her eyes. I get up and run over to her to hug.

"What happened? Are they okay?" she questions me, her eyes filled with worry.

"Zach and Jack were hit by lightning. Zach went into cardiac arrest a little while ago. Besides from that, that's all I know." I say to her. She nods and I walk her over to the other two sleeping girls.

"Who are they?" she whispers to me.

"Christina and Tate. They both have boyfriends who where struck by lightning." I laugh. Gabbie chuckles with me and sits down in a seat, tried.

"I need to go to sleep. Night Alexa." she says to me. I get into the seat next to her and let her lay her head on my shoulder.

"Night Gabbie."
