"Where are you going?" I asked.
He was letting me hold his hand.
"I'm sorry, I should have given you medicine earlier."
"You're not allergic to ibuprofen are you?"
I shook my head.
"Then I'll be right back," he said, "I promise."
As he turned away, I couldn't help but feel comfort.
He's not running away.
~~~~
"I'm back," he whispered.
He handed me a pill and a glass of water as I sat up.
"Thanks."
I swallowed the pill with the water.
"Here," he gave me a thermometer.
As the thermometer was taking my temperature, I felt his hand on the top of my forehead.
The thermometer beeped.
99.5° Fahrenheit
(A/N- 37.5° Celsius)
"You have a fever it appears, what's your normal temperature?"
"Uh 98.3° Fahrenheit, I think."
(A/N- 36.8° Celsius)
He nodded his head.
Sitting in his chair, he was facing me.
"So..." he said.
"You know I don't want to."
"Okay," he turned away, "but I'm always here if you need me."
He stood up from his chair and walked to the door.
"Wait," I said.
He turned to look at me.
"Hmm?"
"What exactly do you want to know?"
Coming back over to me, he grabbed his chair and sat down again.
"You said your past haunts you, and now it's caught up to you," he took my hand, "what does that mean?"
I sat there, silent for a minute or so.
"When we were dating, there were 'pictures' I had," he knew who I was referring to when I said 'we.'
"At the time, those 'pictures' ruined my life."
"I thought it couldn't get worse," I stopped, wanting to word my sentence correctly, "but it did last night."
"Instead of 'pictures,' it was something else," I felt myself grow weary.
I paused for a minute.
"I'll leave it there," I yawned, "it's been implied."
My head fell back to the pillow.
He didn't ask any further questions, he just sat in his chair, still holding my hand.
As I closed my eyes, my mind started to drift.
