Jo awoke to her phone ringing. She groggily reached for it saying "Hello?" her voice is still thick with sleep.
"Jo. It's Jac I need you to come in."
This isn't unusual for the couple. Jo was often called in at absurd times to help Jac or the Russo brothers on one of their many ideas. She hung up the phone slowly standing hating to leave the warmth of her wife and bed. Lizzie's sweet voice reached her ears "Jo?"
"Go back to bed baby. They called me in."
Lizzie sat up "It's 3 am!"
"I know honey but it's Jac."
"I'm coming."
Jo sighed, saying sweetly "Baby you need to sleep you have rehearsal in the morning."
Lizzie said, "But I can't sleep without you." She had her best doe eyes on and her lip was in a small pout. Jo smiled saying
"Okay come on. You have clothes in my office."
Lizzie smiled largely quickly going downstairs to make the two some coffee. Jo called "No Coffee for you love! You said you would sleep."
Lizzie responded with an annoyed groan making Jo smile triumphantly
The couple walked out of the house. Elizabeth started walking towards her Prius when Jo said flatly "No."
"What?"
"We are not taking the mom-mobile, come on we are taking my car."
"We aren't taking the mom-mobile," Lizzie said in a mocking tone as she climbed into Jo's black Camaro that was adorned with subtle hints of red. Lizzie loved the car but there was no way Jo was going to know. She knew Jo got it because it was the car she and her grandfather used to work on together. The subtle hints of red added to remind Jo of her beginnings with Iron Man and a constant reminder of her wife. As they drove through Georgia headed to their second home Trilith Studios. Lizzie reached out turning up the radio. She looked over at Jo "Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide, No escape from reality Open your eyes," She started to sing. Jo smiled widely and before they knew it the two were screaming at the top of their lungs in broken harmony "MAMAAA JUST KILLED A MAN, PUT A GUN AGAINST HIS HEAD..."
It was a short drive as they pulled into Jo's parking space. They walked up to the building nodding to the security as they went. Jo held Lizzie's hand as she pushed the elevator button. When they came to Jo's office Lizzie made a b-line for Jo's plush couch. Jo laughed at her as she took a blanket from her cabinets draping it over Lizzie before quietly going to her desk opening the email on one of her large monitors. As it loaded she pulled out three large cameras: a Fuji XT-2s, a Nikon D6, and lastly a Sony A7R IV. She then went onto one of her shelves taking an assortment of lenses onto her desk. There was a gentle knock on her door, her head snapped up to see Jac staring at her. Just as he was about to speak Jo held a finger up to her lips pointing to where Lizzie was peacefully sleeping. Jac motioned her head for Jo to join her in the hall. "You bought that couch just for her didn't you?"
Jo nodded "Maybe I did."
Jac nodded her head saying "Did you get my email?"
"Yeah, I was just about to start reading it."
"Okay. Come find me when you have ideas."
Jo nodded as Jac walked away. Jo turned watching her wife sleep for a second going over kissing her sweet head before sitting back behind her large monitors. She was lost in work AirPods in her ears when coffee and bagel were placed in front of her. She looked up to see Elizabeth already in her everyday clothes out of her pajamas. Jo asked, "What are you doing up?"
