A/N: I don't take 9/11 lightly but I didn't want to have this whole chapter be a somber one. Let me know your thoughts at the bottom.

I'm going to need you to use your imagination and pretend it's Lizzie for me.

It was September 11, 2021, the two took the day hour by hour giving it the respect and remembrance it deserved. The two were sitting on the couch reading when Jo asked, "Where were you when the towers went down?"

Lizzie looked up from the baby book she was reading, setting it on her small bump "I was 12. I was in LA... What about you?"

"I was 10. I was in my math class. We were going over fractions. Needless to say, I didn't finish my fraction lesson. I was so shocked. I cried. I don't know if I cried because everyone else was or because I actually fully grasped the situation and what was going on."

Lizzie nodded "I think I understood maybe a little more but all I really remember was this overwhelming feeling of..."

"Sadness," they said simultaneously

Jo nodded "People always say September 12, how unified and united we were as a nation. I wish our nation treated Covid like we treated terrorism. I wish we had a better world to bring these babies into."

Lizzie laid her head on Jo's shoulder "Me too baby, me too."

There was a long pause before Jo stood up proclaiming "You know we've had a lot of sad days."

Lizzie perked up, "We have."

"Let's have a good day," Jo said firmly

"Okay! What do you want to do?"

"Let's do a little maternal shoot."

"Okay," Lizzie said with a smile

"Okay?!"

"Okay! What should I wear?"

"Nothing."

"What?"

"Wear nothing." Jo confirmed "Well first go put on jeans and a tank. Any set won't be seen. Then meet me in the babies room."

"I thought I wasn't allowed in there?" Lizzie challenged sassily, It was true. Lizzie wasn't allowed in the "nursery" nursery is used lightly because the room was intended to be an office space right off the master but both had decided the room was too small for what they needed their office to be able to do so it became a glam room for Lizzie. A room for her stylist to keep clothes and do her makeup without having to take up the living room. Jo has since moved all that into one of the spare rooms and has taken the nursery upon herself, her little special project for the twins.

"This is the one exception. I'm still in the drafting phases and the primer has been dry for a while so you can come in but just this once."

Jo was talking to Lizzie but Lizzie was so lost with her love eyes that she interrupted Jo "Kiss me."

Jo stuttered over her words "What?"

"Shut up and kiss me."

Jo smiled leaning down kissing Lizzie. Lizzie let her hand rest on the sides of Jo's face. As Jo pulled away to get air Lizzies lips followed her. As they both stood Jo smiled into her wife's lips. 🌑

Later that day Lizzie sat in a chair Jo behind her. Jo ran a comb through Lizzies hair. Lizzies head flopped back at the sensation already tired from previous activity. Jo laughed gently kissing Lizzies forehead lifting her head gently. She swept Lizzies hair to the side kissing her neck before putting her hair up letting her bangs frame her face. Jo pulled Lizzie up as the two walked hand in hand to the nursery. Even being in the empty room brought tears to Lizzies eyes. Jo cooed "Oh honey." before kissing her tears away "Why are you crying?"
