Not gonna lie. I cried watching the beginning of this. True crocodile tears so make sure you are prepared.
The following day Jo and Lizzie stood across for one another on either side of the bed as they packed their beds. "Do you want to go see them?"
Jo stopped packing looking up at Lizzie "Just him... for now."
Lizzie nodded a gentle smile on her lips "Okay baby."
The two walked hand in hand through the graveyard the sun all but gone behind the dark clouds. Jo knew how to get there with her eyes closed she had been going for years. When they arrived Lizzie gave Jo's hands a squeeze before letting go of her hand. Jo took a few steps forward squatting down Jo gently plucked the grave of weeds and other things to gunk up the grave. She let her fingers dust off the stone before pulling a flask from her back pocket letting the butt of it tap the granite "Bottoms up, old man." After she knocked it back she whispered "I've got something to tell you." She looked back behind her smiling gently at Lizzie she held her hand out. Lizzie stepped forward one hand relaxed on her baby the other hand in Jo's. "This is my wife Lizzie but the incredible thing is that she is doing the most amazing thing ever. She is carrying our baby. You are going to be a great-grandfather..." she blinked back tears "...I wish you were here to see this Popaw. I'm happy." She smiled tears streaking down her face. "I'm really truly happy. Something you never really got to see." Jo leaned forward her forehead against the cold stone as she cried. Lizzie knelt down beside her wrapping her arms around Jo's shoulders kissing her temple. Resting her forehead against the side of Jo's temple. Lizzie whispered "He knows baby. He knows."
A few hours later the two sat on the couch of their private jet. Jo was on her laptop answering emails and looking over some film while Lizzie just scrolled on her phone. Jo looked over to see Lizzie absent mindfully rubbing her stomach with an unfamiliar grimace on her face. "You okay baby?" Jo asked concerned
"Yeah? I just feel kind of-" Lizzie was cut off by the bile rising in her throat. She quickly stood running towards the bathroom. Jo stood up so quickly her laptop clattered to the floor as she ran to follow Lizzie. She busted into the bathroom to see Lizzie knelt over the toilet puking her guts out. Jo knelt beside her holding her hair back while rubbing her back. Jo sat down guiding Lizzie down onto her lap. Lizzie was exhausted and sweaty but none of that phased Jo. Jo turned Lizzie so she was facing her. Lizzie let her head fall forward onto Jo's shoulder letting the steady thumping of Jo's heartbeat settle her stomach "Baby doesn't like to fly." Lizzie groaned
Jo let out a sad chuckle "Awh baby. You know what this means though right?"
"What?" Her voice was muffled in Jos neck
Jo kept rubbing Lizzies back as she kissed Lizzies temple "It means baby is healthy doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing."
"What? Giving their mother hell."
"Exactly," Jo said kissing Lizzies forehead
"God I hope not!"
"If he or she is anything like me-"
"No-"
"Bikers and bad-"
"Josephine! No. We are talking NYU or Harvard or Yale."
"Hey! I went to NYU and still joined that biker gang. And last time I checked you liked my bike."
"I like the bike, not the fact that you are in a biker bang. Are you still in it?"
"Yeah, once a Viper always a Viper."
Lizzie let her head fall forward onto Jo's forehead with a thud "This child is going to kill me."
"Shhh. He or she is tucked safe and sound in your perfect little uterus far from any vipers.
After they made their way out of the bathroom Lizzie sat on the couch leaning her back against the arm gently closing her eyes. Jo sat beside her and began to lay down when she stopped herself. Lizzie felt the hesitation so she cracked her eye open "You won't squish the baby by laying your head on my leg." Lizzie reached behind her taking a throw pillow laying it on her thigh inviting Jo to lay down. Jo settled between Lizzies legs her head on lizzies inside leg. Lizzie reached out racking her fingers through Jo's hair and before long the two were sound asleep.
Jo was woken by the intercom telling them they would begin their descent. Jo gently woke Lizzie making sure she was buckled before buckling herself. Once the plane touched down the two got into Lizzies Prius driving back home. As they drove Jo asked, "Who took care of Red?"
"My Mom. Red should be back home by now."
"How much weight do you think she's gained?"
Lizzie laughed "My mother spoils her way too much."
"Yes."
"Wait till she learns about the baby."
"She may pass out."
Lizzie laughed as they pulled into the driveway. Jo took care of the luggage not letting Lizzie lift. Lizzie rolled her eyes opening the door for Jo. The two were quickly attacked by Red who was chirping excitedly to see her people.
The next day...
The two sat on the patio enjoying lunch when Lizzie looked over to see red chewing on something "Red come here." Lizzie opened Red's mouth plucking the stick from Red's mouth.
"Oh come on Liz it was just a stick."
"She could choke!"
Jo tilted her head saying "Come on she eats sticks all the time. Your maternal instincts are just firing on all cylinders."
"What? It is not!"
"Oh really? So that wasn't you who tucked Red in on her bed kissing her head before leaving a light saying 'we are right upstairs if you need us.'."
"I said that?"
"You did."
"Huh. I guess I am a little more maternal but I have always been the 'Mom'."
"I know baby. I think it's sweet."
"Do you have to work tomorrow?"
"No why?"
"I just want to spend the day with you at home."
"Do that we shall."
She rolled her eyes before smiling at her"I love you."
"I love you more."
"I love you most."
"Never."
"Never."
"I love you too baby Olsen."
