Breaking the Fourth Wall

Lizzie sat beside Kathryn as she watched the scene in front of them. It was the circus scene with Vision and Darcey. Lizzie always felt like she could burst with pride when she watched Jo work. Jo was the head of the photography department so she had anywhere between 10-15 employees under her. Lizzie was staring at Jo her bottom lip between her teeth when Kathryn asked "Whos she?"

Lizzie turned her head to see a woman with red hair walk up beside her wife squatting down putting her hand on Jo's shoulder, Lizzie said annoyed "Ashley."

Kathryn laughed saying "Oh. Why so sour?"

"Because Ashley has a HUGE crush on my wife and Jo is far too blind to see."

Kathryn said, "You do know why she can't see it right?"

Lizzie shrugged

"Oh, honey. She only sees you. She's in love with you! She only has eyes for YOU."

"Does Not keep me from wanting to go full Wanda and rip her head off."

Kathryn nodded knowingly before asking "How does Jo handle all the eyes on you?"

"She growls," Lizzie said like it was an everyday sentence.

"She what!" Kathryn asked laughing

Lizzie kept her eyes trained on her wife like a lioness when she said "She was in Tanzania when she learned how to growl like a lion."

"How accurate?"

"Freakily accurate."

"When does she growl?"

Lizzie smiled lightly still watching her wife "It is normally at premiers or after interviews. There are videos where I'm facing the cameras and she just smooth as can be comes up beside me her back to the cameras and she leans over and just growls. It snakes down my spine and sits in my stomach and just... wow."

"What?"

"Nothing." Lizzie stuttered

Jo caught her wife's eyes she could tell she was talking to Kathryn but her eyes never left hers. There was fire behind them. Jo knew her wife was not a fan of Ashley so she snarled her teeth at Lizzie making her stumble over her words. Jo stood camera still in hand calmly dismissing Ashley. Jo walked over to the woman, her hair was in a top knot in jeans and a t-shirt. Jo smiled at the two saying "Hey!"

Kathryn gave an equally excited hello while Lizzies was more strained. Jo looked at her wife confused before turning to Kathryn with a raised eyebrow Kathryn mouthed 'Ashley' Jo formed an O in her lips before placing her hand on Lizzie's upper thigh giving it a firm squeeze. Jo leaned down beside Lizzie's ear breathing hot air past it. Jo smiled lightly when she heard Lizzie take in a sharp breath. She squeezed a little firmer moving her thumb in a small circle around her wife's smooth skin before finally snarling her teeth letting out a low slow growl that sent Lizzie's bones trembling. Kathryn sat amused as she watched the interaction. She knew Jo had growled when Lizzie's eyes doubled in size as her jaw clenched before relaxing. Jo pulled away whispering "Only you." Before kissing the top of Lizzie's head walking back onto the set.

Kathryn asked, "Did she ju-"

"Yes," Lizzie said her lips pursed shut as she nodded her eyes closed as she tried to regain her breath.

Two Days Later

Lizzie was walking to her wife's office when she looked in to see Ashley leaned over Jo looking at something on Jo's screen. Lizzie stopped in her tracks watching the two. It made Lizzie's blood boil the way Ashley seemed to be all over her wife more and more. She watched as Ashley would laugh or brush her hand against Jo. After about five minutes Lizzie had decided she had seen enough. She walked into the office to Jos' other side asking "You ready baby?"

"Yeah, baby let me just wrap this up."

Lizzie nodded, turning and kissing her wife on the cheek. Lizzie stood beside her wife as Ashley let out an annoyed sigh. Jo closed a folder handing it to Ashley "Good work today! Go home!"

Ashley smiled brightly brushing her hand as she took the folder. Once she was gone Jo reached up, turning off her monitor. She took a hold of Lizzie's hand leaning over she went to kiss Lizzie but Lizzie shied away. Jo shot her a look of confusion and pain. Jo asked, "What's up babe?"

"Home."

"What?" Jo asked confused

"We can discuss this at home."

Jo challenged her wife "We can discuss what is keeping my wife from kissing me now."

"Josephine I really don't want to get into this."

"Elizabeth!" Jo had never raised her voice at Lizzie. Jo took in a deep breath "We don't fight-"

"Then let's not fight."

Jo was at a cross as much as she wanted to unpack this she knew this was not the place. She nodded saying "Okay. Let's go home."

When the two arrived home Lizzie made her way to the bedroom as Jo let out a sigh squeezing her temples letting Red outside. "Lizzie baby!"

Lizzie came down the stairs "What?"

Jo let out a sigh "I don't know. You tell me."

"Drop the attitude."

"Attitude really! You won't let me kiss you and you won't tell me why."

"I'm mad okay!"

Jo let out a strained chuckle "I know but why?"

"Ashley."

"What?"

"Ashely."

"I heard baby but why?" Jo asked calmly

"Oh come on you have to know."

"Have to know what?!"

"She has a huge crush on you!"

"What?! No, she doesn't!"

"Oh come on! Are you blind? The subtle brush of a hand, the giggling, always having a hand on you."

Jo stood for a minute taking everything her wife was telling her "Do... Do you think I flirt back? Is that why you are mad at me?"

Jo was trying so hard to figure out how to approach this. "Well, I don't think you are pushing her away."

Jo let out a long sigh stepping towards her wife "I didn't see it because I only have eyes for you. I didn't see her failed attempt at flirting. I'm sorry she made you feel this way but I need you to know I had no intention of adding to this. Lizzie you- you are my everything. My son, my moon, my stars, and everything under the stars." Jo took Lizzie's hand, putting it over her heart. "Do you feel that?"

"Your heartbeat?"

Jo nodded "It's beating Liz-zie, Liz-zie, Liz-zie. My heart beats for you."

Lizzie had tears in her eyes as she leaned into her wife "I don't know why I got so mad."

Jo rubbed her back "Shh. It's okay. I get mad too. You have to talk to me when you are feeling like this."

Lizzie nodded into Jo. Jo pulled her back looking at her lips. Lizzie whispered, "Kiss me."

Jo leaned in hungrily kissing her wife trying to portray every ounce of love she has back into Lizzie.

When they pulled apart Jo couldn't help but smile. Lizzie was relaxed, truly relaxed her eyes were closed, lips pursed together a relaxed hum excited her lips. Jo leaned down kissing Lizzie all over her face making Lizzie giggle. Jo kissed Lizzie's vibrating throat before moving to her neck where that giggle quickly flipped into a moan. Jo leaned into her ear letting out a small growl making Lizzie flop forward into Jo's shoulder. "Bed now." 

Jo lifted Lizzie into her arms quickly going up to the master before running back downstairs to let Red in. "See you in the morning." Jo winked at Red.
