"Mrs. Olsen?"

"This is she,"

"We are ready to take your wife off the ventilator,"

Lizzie let out a sigh of relief "She better?"

"She is doing much better! She is still Covid positive but her numbers are improving and she's starting to breathe over the ventilator."

"Will she wake up when she comes off?"

"We will slowly tapper back on her sedation but it's up to her body to wake up when she's ready."

"When do you plan to remove the tube?"

"Soon. This can be kind of traumatic to see so I will call you back when it is over."

"Okay, thank you," Lizzie stood to go tell her family,

An hour later Lizzie was sitting in the sunroom her phone on her lap as she waited for a call to tell her, her wife was awake. Lily came and sat beside her "How are you dear?"

"Anxious. Every day I feel we are so close to her waking up, getting better, coming home but every day that passes the sadder I become. She hasn't been unconscious for too long but I feel she's missed so much of the twin's lives."

"She'll wake up soon."

"How can you be so sure?"

"She's a Hamilton and we always get back on our feet."

October 23rd

Jo still hadn't woken up.

Chris walked out of the Georgian estate and onto the back porch to see his wife cuddled up on the outside couch a tumbler of scotch in front of her. Her long chocolate hair tied up while her bright blue eyes were dulled by lack of sleep. Chris sat beside her pattering her leg "How are you baby?"

"I don't know," she answered truthfully "My heart breaks for Lizzie, for Jo..." she paused trying together emotions "Chris I was so scared," he pulled her flush against his chest rubbing her back "shh, shh,"

"I can't imagine the pain Lizzie must be in,"

"Me either baby, me either."

She looked up at him "How are you?"

While Jo was Morgan's best friend she was also close to Chris. Just as Jo soothes Lizzie's anxieties Jo would often calm Chris. The two became fast friends and were often joking around Jo, He and Scarlett seemed to be the trio to always be smiling and laughing.

"About the same as you,"

"I miss her laugh,"

"I miss her stories,"

"Have you talked to Scarlett lately?"

"I talked to her two days ago, if it wasn't for Cosmo she would be down here,"

"Oh, I know!"

"You got a chance to talk to the kids right?"

"I did," Morgan nodded

"How are they?"

"King of course misses us and wants Aunt Jo to be okay and little miss Josey was telling me all about her latest art project with your Mom."

"Oh, gosh!"

"Oh, I know! Wait till we have another one,"

"Another one?!"

"I'm not pregnant or anything like that!"

Chris took a long breath "Oh-ohkay," he paused "Do you want to be?"

"I'm not saying I think we should actively try, just don't do anything to stop it from happening," she bit her lip anxiously waiting on him to answer,

A wide smile spread across his face before she wrapped his arms around Morgans' waist spinning her around "I would love to do that!"

October 24th

"How are my niece and nephew?" Lizzie asked as she sat curled up on the couch sipping tea as Morgan sat across from her on the other side of the couch

"They are good! Kingston is loving Boston and Josey is loving whatever new craft her and Chris' Mom have been doing."

Lizzie laughed, "Thats good! When do you guys plan on moving to Boston again?"

"Sometime before Thanksgiving,"

"She's going to miss having you so close, we both are."

"I can't even think about being that far from Jo. We haven't been that far away from one another like that since we became best friends."

"I know!" Just then Lizzie's phone rang "Hello?... She is?!... Yes!...Thank you!" Lizzie hung up turning to Morgan "She's awake,"

Morgan's eye widened as she smiled brightly "She's awake!"

"She's awake!"

They hugged as best they could with Lizzie's belly. When they pulled apart Lizzie's phone was ringing again. This time it was a facetime call Lizzie quickly answered it. She came face to face with her wife's ocean eyes, "Hi baby," Jo choked out her voice rough and scratchy

Elizabeth couldn't contain the sobs that took over her thirteen days she hadn't heard her wifes voice, seen her eyes, every day she was terrified she'd never see her again. Finally, she saw the light at the end of this ever-growing tunnel.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my readers who celebrate! As important to celebrate family and remember what we are grateful for it is also important to remember the truth of what happened that day. While it is fantasized as a great moment of togetherness when the Pilgrims and Native Americans shared a meal together. This is not the whole truth, "Wampanoag leader Ousamequin reached out to the English at Plymouth and wanted an alliance with them. But it's not because he was innately friendly. It's because his people have been decimated by an epidemic disease, and Ousamequin saw the English as an opportunity to fend off his tribal rebels." (Smithsonian)
