The boys beside Lizzie whispered, "She's gonna go over."

Before Lizzie could process Jo's four-wheeler began rolling. She watched helplessly as her wife's body was left in the dirt as the machine rolled over her. Bill and Blake had already made a mad dash for Jo's still body while Lizzie moved as fast as she felt safe to get to her wife. She ran through the dirt looking down at her wife's body and Blake ripped the helmet off of her. Jo sat up "I'm fine. I'm fine. It didn't touch me." As Jo stood Lizzie started hyperventilating. Before Jo could say anything her pregnant wife fell lifeless into her hands. "Call an ambulance!" Jo screamed

•••

Jo lifted her wife running to the office building on the track. She needed to get them some kind of privacy. Blake followed behind before quickly closing the door, Bill stayed outside to try and manage the crowd. Spoon the ambulance pulled up and Jo met them at the door. "My wife is 32 years old, 15 weeks pregnant with twins."

"What happened ma'am?"

"I was racing and my four-wheeler flipped, she ran down to check on me and collapsed in my arms."

"Okay well, I want to get her in the ambulance and get some privacy."

Jo nodded gently taking Lizzie into her arms before laying her on the gurney "Give me just a minute?" The paramedics nodded as Jo reluctantly let go of Lizzie's hand. She stepped outside "Bill."

"Yeah?"

Jo pulled him aside whispering "I need to get her in the ambulance." She looked around "I see at least ten kids and adults with their cameras at the ready. Lizzie is pregnant-"

"Congratulations! He said softly

"Thank you" she smiled, "If they see her getting into the ambulance they will see her bump."

"I'll take care of it."

"Thank you." Jo kissed his cheek going back to her wife.

Within minutes Blake had put track and trailers between the door and the ambulance so they could move without being seen. They threw a blanket over Lizzie and quickly moved her to the ambulance.

Once they were inside the paramedics turned to Jo "Has she been diagnosed with gestational diabetes?"

"No, she hasn't."

"Okay. Okay."

"Why?"

"I think she suffered a quick drop in blood pressure leading to her passing out. Yeah. It's at 85/50. I'm going to give her a shot of some glucose and she will perk right up."

Jo nodded, holding her wife's hand. It wasn't until thirty minutes later when Lizzie was settled in the hospital bed that she started coming to. Jo was holding tight to her wife's hand head down. "Jo?"

Jo snapped her head up "Hey. Hey baby." She cooed

Lizzie looked around confused. "What happened?" her hand quickly went to her stomach. Her eyes went to Jo too afraid to ask.

"They are okay."

"Their okay?"

"Babies are okay." Jo smiled with tears in her eyes

Lizzie had tears in her eyes as she let her hands move all over her bump "Oh thank god."

Dr. Bowels walked in rolling the ultrasound over trying to make small talk "It's very rare I see a visiting couple but even rarer I see them twice. But I know you want to know what's going on." he started the ultrasound machine up "The babies are measuring perfect, a little small but perfect for twins. You are carrying back but Lizzie you are so small that's why you have a pronounced bump. Both babies have strong heartbeats." He gave the couple a minute to look at the twins and just breathe that sigh of relief "Lizzie I called Dr. King and she and I talked and we agreed that you are suffering from gestational diabetes." He handed a pamphlet to the moms before sitting back in his rolling chair "So gestational diabetes is like normal diabetes it just affects you while you are pregnant especially with twins. 99 percent of twin pregnancies have gestational diabetes. I am going to send someone in to show you how to check your blood sugar and work on keeping it under control. You are healthy, you eat healthily, I'm not questioning that it's just with the pregnant, any quick change can affect the baby's health." He watched the women's faces, watched as they both reached for Lizzies bump, both wore terrified mama bear looks. "They are perfect right now!" He saw their faces relax "But if you keep having extreme ups and downs it may lead to some issues but since we caught it you should be perfect."

"What can I do?" Jo asked, Lizzie, squeezed Jo's hand.

"Support her, make sure she's eating, I know in your work long hours on your feet is normal but Lizzie makes sure you find time to rest."

She nodded "Yes of course."

"Like I said I will send someone in to help you with a dietician and how to check your blood pressure and things like that. Rest for now. I'm going to keep you here overnight okay?"

Lizzie nodded "Thank you,"

"Oh and Jo?"

"Yes?"

"Your grandmother is outside." Jo looked at Lizzie who nodded "I'll let her in."

Mamaw rushed in the minute the door opened "Oh girls! What happened? How are you? How are the twins?"

Jo said, "Mamaw slow down..."

Momaw stayed till the hospital was closed to visitors. That night Jo was curled up in the chair beside her wife. Lizzie was on her side when she reached over letting her finger trace along Jo's cheek and jaw "Hmm." Jo hummed

"Shhh," Lizzie tried to coo her wife back to sleep

"What are you doing up?" Jo whispered

"Couldn't sleep," Lizzie whispered

"Hmm me either."

"Our babies need names."

"Yeah," Jo chuckled "You want to have that conversation now..." she looked over at the clock "...at 2 am?"

"I do." she smiled cheekily

"Okay, uhm Alice."

"No. Noah?"

"No. George."

"As in the founding father? No."

"Elizabeth?"

Lizzie let out a loud chuckle "Hell no."

"Chase."

"Stop trying to name our children after me!"

"I want our babies to be as cool as you."

"Aw," Lizzie frowned sweetly "No."

"Samual?"

"No. Kate?"

"Nah, Addison?"

"Maybe." Jo stood up going over to the cabinets opening and closing it "What are you looking for baby?"

"Hang on love,"

Lizzie laughed "Baby what is it?"

"Ah-ha!" She pulled out a notepad and pins. She skipped over to the bed. Lizzie scooted over patting the space beside her Jo reluctantly laid beside Lizzie handing her a pen and notepad "Make two lists let's say 15 names for each baby once we have the names we will flip them and see what lines up?"

Lizzie kissed Jo's cheek "Perfect."

For the next hour, the two scribbled and giggled before they finally flipped the paper to one another. Two names lined up on each baby. The perfect first and middle name for each baby.

Lizzie smiled with tears in her eyes "Our babies have a name."

Jo's face matched Lizzies "They do."

"I love you so much."

"I love you more."

"I love you most,"

"Never,"

"Never,"

"I love you two ... and ..."

"Did you just say their names?" Lizzie giggled into Jo's neck

"I did!" Jo smiled

The night nurse smiled gently as she walked in to see the two curled up a list of names on each of their laps. "Sweet couple."
