October 4th

Lizzie opened her eyes in her new bed in her new rental. She rolled over to see her wife sitting beside her with a cupcake in hand "Well what is all this for?"

"It's not for you. You are merely a vessel."

"Vessel for who?"

"My children."

Lizzie smiled "And why do Baby A and Baby B need a cupcake?"

Jo smiled brightly "You are twenty weeks today meaning it is Baby A and Baby Bs half womb day."

"Womb day?"

"Like a birthday but in the womb."

Lizzie smiled brightly "20 weeks," she brought her hand down to her little bump "We are halfway to meeting you two."

Jo leaned down kissing her belly, twice of course "We can't wait to meet you."

"Does Mommy not get a kiss?" Jo looked up at Lizzie, smirking Lizzie's eyes widened as Jo went to kiss Lizzie, Lizzie gently pushed her cheek away "Not in front of the kids."

Jo groaned "We are always in front of the kids."

"So you are going to have to keep all your pervy thoughts to yourself."

Jo leaned back in "According to my reading the babies can hear me for another six weeks."

"Is that so?"

"It is? Can I kiss you now?"

"Of course Mama."

October 6th that bliss came crashing down around them

"I don't want you to go."

"I have to go." Jo smiled from where she was looking down at her suitcase

"No, I don't think you understand. I, don't, want, you, to go."

Jo turned to Lizzie "Wait. You're being serious?"

"I am."

Jo stood up looking at her wife "I asked you if you were cool about this and you said yes."

"Well, now I'm not."

"You can't do that."

"Like hell, I can't!"

Jo took a long breath "I asked you months ago you said you were okay with it." Lizzie went to say something but Jo stopped her "No, don't interrupt." Lizzie was taken aback by her wife's tone. Jo counted as she went "I asked when you found out you were pregnant before you took this job. I asked when they said twins, I asked before we moved here and every single time you said it was fine."

"And now if saying it's not."

"I can't back out of the trip now! I promised people-"

"What about your promise to me?"

"Our vows?!"

"What promise do you think I'm talking about?!"

"I'm not leaving you for forever, I'm leaving you for a week to go take pictures in New Orleans to document Ida's destruction a month after it touched down!"

"I am asking you not to go."

"I can't not go. This project has major supporters and funding behind it."

"I knew this was a bad idea."

"What was a bad idea?"

"You aren't settled. You aren't ready for ki-"
