Tommy and I looked at each other for a moment, the same look that we gave each other when we were in trouble with Wilbur. How I wished for those simpler times right now. I picked up a bow and a few arrows from my chest and left the cabin with Tommy.
Dream's voice ran out loud and clear when we stepped out into the open, but not close enough for him to see us.
"I know she's here Wilbur. You know what happens of you don't give her back to me."
"I'm sorry to burst your bubble Dream, but I have no knowledge of Y/n's return."
"Well, then where the fuck is she?"
"I'm right here."
Me and Tommy joined Wilbur and Tubbo at the gates, everyone's gaze falling onto us. Well, mainly me. Tubbo's tired-looking face lit up and he ran forwards and embraced me in a tight hug. Wilbur also looked happy at my reappearance but quickly covered up his happiness.
"Y/n, what are you doing here?" He said sternly. Dream laughed like a maniac.
"So you lied Wilbur. She was here the whole time and you fucking lied."
"He didn't lie." I spoke up. "He truly had no idea I was here. That was until, well, now."
I could feel Dream's glare piercing my skin, but I contained my fear, refusing to let it show.
"You're gonna have to come with me." He growled.
"She's not going anywhere with you." Tommy said back. Dream stood there for a moment before swiftly pulling out his crossbow, pulling it back, the arrow aiming at Tommy's bandaged leg.
"You don't want to mess with me right now Tommy. I say that wound in your leg is still pretty fresh."
"And I say yours is too." My bow was now aimed at Dream and we stood there, my bow aimed at Dream and his aimed at Tommy, both ready to let go at any moment. I thought about how easy it would be if I just killed him, right there, right now. The bow duel wouldn't happen tomorrow, L'manburg would face a lot less problems with him gone. But I knew that, deep down, I couldn't. Partly because, if I let go of the arrow, there is a pretty high chance that Dream would too, meaning that Tommy would still die. And as for L'manburg, the SMP would just find a new leader, probably George or Sapnap and I don't think that their goals would differ much from Dream's.
But I wasn't thinking about all the logical reasons as to why I can't kill him. I just didn't have the fucking guts to. I guess Dream knew that too, because he lowered his crossbow, signalling for me to do the same. I glared at him, the bow in my hands slowly lowering. As soon as the bow was at my side, Dream raised his again and shot me in the leg. I yelled out in pain and stumbled to the floor, my blood soaking into the grass. I could hear everyone shouting but I couldn't make out a word of it. I was too focused on not moving to much in order to not lose as much blood as possible. I only noticed the shouting had stopped when Dream came over to me and roughly pulled me up. I hissed in pain at the sudden movement but he ignored me. He guided me away from L'manburg and I could hear Tommy and Tubbo shouting behind me and Wilbur trying to get them both to calm down. Their voices drowned out as we walked further into the forest, me leaning on Dream for support.
"Well, that was quite the stunt you pulled earlier today. Impressive but risky."
I groaned. "I was desperate, okay?"
"I could tell. I guess desperation cancels out any logic you had. I mean, look where your little escape plan got you." He looked at my bloody leg.
"What was that for anyways? I lowered my bow."
Dream shrugged. "An eye for an eye, as they say. And besides, you were getting a little too cocky and rebellious for my liking."
I scoffed. "You mean you don't like it when things are out of your control" He ignores me.
"Just to let you know, the duel is still going to be happening tomorrow. Your persuasion skills with Tommy changes nothing."
"You can't kill him though."
"Why not?"
"It was listed in the rules Dream! No killing, the last one to back out wins."
"Well, someone did their homework."(Not me tho. I have an overdue essay to do but I'm writing this instead.) "I don't know if you noticed this yet, Y/n, but I don't play by the rules. I don't like being told how to live. I'm a leader, I don't follow rules, I make them."
"Who's acting cocky now?" Dream looked down at me and then pushed me off of him. It took me too much effort to try and not fall over. I glared at him.
"I would chose your words very carefully if I were you. Otherwise you can walk back by yourself."
"I could just run away."
Dream scoffed. "And how far do you think you'll be getting before I catch up with you?"
"Fine then. I'll walk by myself, I don't need you." I limped to his side but fell and crashed straight into his chest. His arm went around my waist for support as he laughed at me.
"Poor little darling, can't even walk properly without my help." My protests were muffled as my face was still buried in his sweater. I pulled away from his chest and didn't say anything on the way back.
Sapnap was sitting on the couch when we walked in and as the door opened, he sat up.
"What happened to you?" He looked down at my leg.
"That's not important. Where's George?"
"He's asleep."
"Well, go wake him up. We need medical assistant."
"No need." A voice said, standing by the door. Eret was standing there, the medical kit already in his hand. "I can stitch you up."
I knew that Eret had some medical knowledge as he occasionally helped Fundy in the medical van back in L'manburg. And I also trusted him a lot more than I trusted George, as I'm pretty sure that he would just love to let me bleed out on the floor, so I accepted his request. Besides, I was too tired to argue about it and I felt like I would just fall asleep right there and then. Sapnap probably saw how exhausted I was and walked over to me. He took me from Dream and him and Eret started guiding me towards the stairs.
"Where are you going?" Dream asked.
"I'm taking her back to her room so that she can get healed up and rest."
"Take her to my room. She can't stay in the other one anymore." Sapnap raised an eyebrow at Dream and I realized that he didn't know about my attempt at escaping since he was probably out or something. We walked up the stairs, the two men beside me basically carrying me up. They turned a few corners and walked into a large room, even bigger than my one. The walls were a dark grey and there were dark green curtains draped over the tall windows. There was a four poster bed made out of polished, black wood with dark green covers to match the curtains. Sapnap and Eret led me over to the bed and I sat down. Sapnap then left the room and Eret started to stitch up my leg. I winced each time the needle pierced my skin and I had to try my hardest to not fall asleep. I was glad to say the least when he had finished. He put his hands into his pockets, clearly looking for something. He frowned and then groaned.
"What is it?" I asked softly.
"I was going to clean the blood off, but my handkerchief seemed to have fallen out of the hole in my pocket."
"I could probably stitch it up for you." I offered. I've known the man long enough to know that he was a hopeless seamstress. "But you're gonna have to give me a thread and needle."
He smiled at me, a genuine smile, something that I haven't seen him do in a long time. For the first time, I thought if maybe his betrayal hurt him as much as it hurt us. He gave me his jacket and then left the room to get me a needle and a thread. He came back a little later and gave me the supplies before wishing me goodnight, leaving me alone in the room. I was too tired to start sewing now, but I flipped the pocket inside out to inspect the hole. As I did that, a small, black velvet pouch fell out and onto the bed. I picked it up, feeling the soft fabric. This was the type of bag that people would keep valuable, sentimental items in. I opened up the drawstrings and took out the only item in there.
A blue, pink and purple flower crown.
