The election was today.
Today was the day that everyone had been fretting about.
I had just finished putting my vote in, which was obviously POG2020. I looked up at the podium, which, surprisingly, Tommy, Karl, Tubbo and Quackity had finished building and to everyone's surprise, it actually looked really good. Although I was too anxious to admire the build. I was subconsciously biting my nail whilst looking around the place. There was already a large crowd here, although the voting booths had only opened 10 minutes ago. I wasn't even aware that there was this many people living in L'manburg and I wondered whether they were happy under Wilbur's rule. I tried to read their expressions but got nothing out of them, seeing as the same, happy look was copied and pasted onto everyone's face. I couldn't help but feel annoyed. To them, it was all an exciting change in history, whereas for us - for Wilbur - it was a change in our lives.
My eyes scanned the crowd and I saw Fundy talking to Niki in the corner, a scowl written on his face. I knew that Niki actually had no intention of winning the election, and that she had just agreed to help Fundy because she felt bad for him. She glanced over at me and gave me a little nod, to which I returned with a tight smile. My eyes travelled to my left, where across the floor, Quackity was stood, laughing and talking with Tommy and Tubbo. He was dressed smartly for once, in a navy suit with a red tie, although he was still wearing the beanie. I don't think he ever takes the beanie off. I could tell that Tommy was forced to wear the L'manburg uniform by Wilbur, meaning that, for once, he was wearing something other than his red and white shirt. Tubbo was also wearing the uniform and I smiled, knowing that Wilbur must've gotten to him too. Me, on the other hand, had chosen to wear my uniform out of respect for POG2020. I hadn't worn it in a while but when I took it out of my closet, it still looked as smart and as majestic as ever.
I looked over to behind the voting booths where Schlatt was stood alone, arms crossed, observing the scene. He was wearing his usual black and red suit, except today, the black material seemed shinier and newer, and the red tie looked brighter, like it had been painted with fresh blood. He looked up and we made eye contact. I looked away after about 3 seconds. There was something about his eyes that creeped me out. They were so...empty. They say that eyes are the windows to our souls, and if that was true, then Schlatt had no soul. I watched as he glared at the group of laughing women, already sitting in the stands. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't, to be honest.
I jumped as a hand touched my shoulder. I turned around, my hand making its way to the little dagger in the waistband of my pants. I still didn't know what Schlatt had planned, and it would be stupid not to come here unprotected.
"Sorry if I scared you." Dream said softly. I relaxed a little and removed my hand from the dagger, but I didn't say anything. I had been avoiding Dream ever since I overheard his conversation with Schlatt.
"Are you okay?" Dream asked, sounding concerned. I just nodded.
"Just nervous that's all." I said with a small smile. I could feel his eyes staring into mine behind the mask and I looked away awkwardly.
"Nervous? If you're this nervous, I can't even imagine what Wilbur and Tommy must be feeling right now." Dream joked.
"Haha, yeah.." I tried to laugh but it did not sound very convincing. Dream picked up on this.
"Hey, I'm sure they'll do fine. The people love them." Dream said, reassuring me.
"I know they do Dream." I turned suddenly to face him. "But, I don't know, maybe Schlatt has something up his sleeve. Maybe he's going to rig the election or something."
Dream raised an eyebrow. "I think you're just being paranoid, Y/n. That's just your nerves talking." I couldn't keep it in any longer.
"Really? So, you know nothing about a plan that will help Schlatt win the election?" I asked in a harsh tone. "Because that's not what it seemed like the other day."
Dream's silence said more than his words ever could. I didn't give him time to think about how to apologize and just left. I heard him call my name behind me.
"Y/n, wait!"
I didn't wait. I just kept on walking until someone else grabbed my arm. I shook them off and glared at them. Sapnap just put his hands up defensively.
"Okay, I'm sorry." He said. I scoffed and rolled my eyes, whilst walking away from him.
"Wait, listen Y/n!" He grabbed my arm again and I pushed it off me.
"Don't touch me." I glared at him. He looked at me with a pleading look.
"Look, I'm sorry Y/n." He began to apologize.
"You knew about the plan." I said, hurt detectable in my voice. Sapnap looked down in shame.
"I know. And I'm sorry."
"If you really were sorry, you would tell me what the plan is." I said. He just stood there in silence. I laughed.
"That's what I thought." I walked away from him and over to Karl, who waved at me to go over to him.
"Hey, how're you feeling?" He asked. I just shrugged, not wanting to answer the question again. Karl seemed to understand. He pulled me into a hug, which made me feel slightly better. When we pulled away, Karl looked around us to see if there were people looking, before slipping somethin cold into my hand. I looked down and saw he had given me a glass bottle filled with a light blue liquid. I looked up at him quizzically.
"It's an invisibility potion." Karl said simply, as if that had just explained everything. "You'll know when to use it." And with that, he walked off, over to Wilbur. I stared at the potion in my hand before putting it into my conveniently large pockets of my L'manburg jacket.

Wilbur took his place on the stage as the rest of us chose a place to sit. Me, Tubbo and Karl were sat in the front row and I could feel Dream's gaze burning into the back of my neck from the other side. I refused to look back at him.
"Hello fellow citizens of L'manburg!" Wilbur said cheerfully. Although he didn't let it show, I knew that he was shitting himself. Even Tommy looked anxious. The four parties were standing behind Wilbur, Tommy sweating slightly, Fundy and Niki expressionless, Schlatt looking awfully smug and Quackity standing by himself. I frowned. Where was George?
"Welcome to the first ever election that L'manburg has hosted!" Wilbur continued. "Thank you for joining us at this historical event. We have just finished counting up the votes." Tommy passed Wilbur a slip of card. I could see Wilbur's fingers trembling a bit as he took it from Tommy. He took a deep breath as he read out the results.
"In fourth place, with 9% of the votes." Wilbur said, looking up. "Is COCONUT2020, ran by Fundy and Niki Nihachu." There was a polite applause and Fundy's face remained expressionless, whereas Niki's showed a clear look of relief.
Wilbur waited for the applause to die down, which it quickly did. He cleared his throat. "In third place, with 16% of the votes." He paused and I could see his face relaxing a little. "Is SCHLATT2020, lead by Jschlatt himself."
The applause for Schlatt was not a very enthusiastic one and I think that anyone could tell that Schlatt was not very favored in L'manburg. The clapping died down quickly, but Schlatt's smile remained on his face.
Wilbur cleared his throat. "And, in second place, with 30% of the votes." He paused for a dramatic effect. "Is SWAG2020, lead by Quackity with Georgenotfound as his running mate!"
There was a roaring cheer that came from the crowd and everyone knew that it wasn't Quackity we were cheering for.
"Which means, in first place, with 45% of the votes," Wilbur grinned as he looked up. "Is POG2020, led by myself and TommyInnit!"
