As soon as Eret told me that my leg was ok to walk on, I bade my goodbyes to him and left the castle, promising that I would visit from time to time. Eret had given me a bag of clothes for my stay in Pogtopia, which was slung over my shoulder. My trusty diamond ax was in my hand and I headed into the forest, towards Pogtopia.
I had mixed feelings about returning. Of course, I wanted to be able to be a part of the revolution, but facing my friends after they had all betrayed me? Not too keen on it.
I reached the entrance to the cave, perhaps a little sooner than I would've liked. To my surprise, there was no one on look out duty when I arrived and I gripped my ax a little tighter, more cautious. I crept down the stairs, into the ravine and I could hear shouts from below. I could make out Tommy's voice yelling at, I'm guessing, Techno.
"Don't you start acting like nothing happened! You were willing to shoot Tubbo, on Schlatt's orders!" Tommy fumed.
"Tommy, we've already agreed that we'd forget about this." I heard Wilbur murmur.
"No, Wil! He was going to kill Tubbo!"
"Tommy, grow up. It's not like he actually got hurt or anything, was it?" Techno grumbled. I reached the bottom of the stairs and I could see Tommy looking at Techno with a look of disbelief.
"Yeah, but Y/n got hurt and I guess you feel real bad, don't you?" Tommy spat. "We all know that the only reason you hesitated was because she was standing in front of Tubbo and you didn't want to hurt her! Well, she could've died, so how do you feel now, Techno?" Tommy was practically screaming by now. From what I could tell, the only people in the ravine was Tommy, Wilbur and Techno. I guess Niki must be out somewhere.
"Well, I'm afraid I've known Y/n longer than Tubbo." Techno said, still calm.
"Ah, Y/n, welcome back!" Wilbur said cheerfully as he spotted me lurking in the shadows. I jumped at being addressed.
All three heads turned to face me, Tommy's sour expression immediately turning into a wide grin.
"Ayy, woman, you're back!" Tommy exclaimed happily.
"You know it." I said, smiling mischievously. Wilbur cleared his throat.
"Listen, Y/n, I'm really sorry to kick you out like that." He explained. "I wasn't in my right mind and wasn't focused at all. I guess everything that happened at the festival kind of woke me back up to reality." Wilbur said, sincerely. I nodded. "Are you okay?" He asked, his voice becoming more concerned.
"Yeah," I said, smiling slightly. "I'm fine now."
Wilbur smiled back and then put his arms around Tommy. "Well, I'm going to take a quick trip to the nether and I will be taking Tommy with me" Wilbur said, eyeing Tommy. "In case he gets himself into anymore trouble." He glanced at Techno, who hadn't said a word, before leaving with a protesting Tommy in his arms.
I assumed that I would be taking my old room back, the one that I shared with Niki and started to make my way there. However, I hadn't got far before Techno spoke up.
"How's your leg?"
I spun back round, looking at him. "'Oh, sorry Y/n, for almost exploding your guts at the festival. I was trying to kill Tubbo and you were in the way'" I said, sarcastically. "Or maybe 'Hey, sorry Y/n for being such a dick and siding with Wilbur when he kicked you off the team. I knew you were innocent but I didn't say anything because I decided that I wanted to be a little bitch'" Techno rolled his eyes, looking amused. "Either one would work, you know."
Techno laughed in a very unfunny manner. "I have nothing to apologize for."
I stared at him. The audacity that this man has. "Are you actually kidding me? After you almost killed me? After you put everyone in danger at the festival?" I laughed shrilly. "You have nothing to apologize for?"
"You of all people should know that what happened wasn't my fault." Techno said, him starting to raise his voice too. "You of all people should know that when the voices demand blood, then blood shall be spilt."
"Fine, blame every bad thing you do on the voices, just like you used to." I said, crossing my arms. "Some things just never change, do they?"
"You've changed." Techno stated.
"No, I adapted." I said, glaring at him. "I'm sorry if thought I was going to stay the same forever, just for your happiness. Hate to break it to you Techno, but you're not the only person who matters in this world. God, how can you be so self-obsessed?"
"I'm self obsessed?" He exclaimed, laughing at me. "You're the one who thinks that you should play the hero all the time and you expect not gain an injury or two? Grow up Y/n."
"I wasn't trying to play hero, I was trying to save my friend from dying!" I said, raising my voice again. "Because that's what friends do for each other, and you would know what having a friend feels like, if you didn't screw over everyone you meet!"
"You know what Y/n? You're right! I've never had a friend, the closest thing I had was you, but you left, didn't you? You went off on your own, into the real world and made friends, something that I never go to have. You have no idea how lucky you are!"
"Lucky?" I exclaimed. "I had to watch both my parents die in front of my own eyes, one at your hands, may I add, and I was kidnapped twice and tortured for answers. And I won't ever forget that because every time I look in the mirror, I see that fucking scar in my nose and it's going to haunt me forever! You chose your life of violence, I was forced into it!"
"You have no idea what I went through! After you left I was devastated, believe it or not, I thought you were dead. I grieved for you when all this time, you were here, playing politicians with my brothers! Do you have any idea how betrayed I felt?" Techno shouted. I grabbed a fistful of my hair in frustration.
"You suffered one heartbreak and you think that compares to being chased out of your home at the age of 16 by people who wanted to kill you? Not to mention how my dad knew that I was in danger and instead let me be hunted? You have no idea what it was like for me, you never did! I was always the one comforting you, telling you that you did nothing wrong, but you never once showed any care for my past!" I was on the point of having a mental breakdown right there and then. The waves were crashing at the walls, the ocean inside of me rising and rising, to the point where any more would overfill the container.
Techno stood there, with an emotionless look on his face. The next words he spoke were filled with venom.
"You know, I'm surprised you even got this far this time. How long is it until you feel the need to run again? Maybe it's a good thing that Tubbo didn't die, otherwise you would've been running for the hills by now, just like you did with me. What were you expecting, Y/n? I told you that I killed people and yet you were still surprised when I did. We were happy until you saw something you didn't like and ran the other way. You really are your daddy's daughter."
And there it was : the floodgates burst. Tears appeared in my eyes and I made no effort to wipe them away. I couldn't lie, his words stung. As he stood there, looking at me, I saw in his eyes that he realized that he went too far. But I knew that he wouldn't apologize because that's not what Technoblade does. Technoblade was a ruthless killer that wasn't supposed to care about anyone. And I knew that, I knew that he did bad things, even before he took me in. I realized that both of us had been silent for a moment too long.
I stared down, hard, at the ground, tears still brimming my eyes. I finally looked up at him.
"And Technoblade does what he does best." I said, teary eyed. "Screwing over everyone he meets." He didn't say anything as I walked past him, with my bag on my shoulder.
"The reason why you don't have any friends, Techno, is because you don't let anyone in." I said, not turning behind me to face him. "And ever since I ventured into the real world, I learnt that people are only monsters if you treat them like one. It's not them who has a problem," I said, finally turning around and facing him.
"It's you."
This chapter was just PURE drama
