Chapter 34: Surprise! Surprise!~~South Point Driving Range~~
Alex looked at Mark. "So that's why RJ needed to be here huh?"
Mark looked back quizzically.
"Oh, come on Mark, come off it. Never knew you had it in you to be a matchmaker."
"Look Alex, whatever it is you're talking about, I'm just as surprised as you are at seeing her here."
"If you didn't get her to fly back here, then that means..."
Mark turned to Maine. "You're looking for RJ, again?"
Maine smiled awkwardly. "Your memory is still sharp as ever Mark. Yes I need to see him now. Where is he?"
"Join the club. We are also looking for him. He was supposed to meet us here but it seems he stood us up."
Alex started dialing RJ's number. "No answer. I wonder why he's not picking up."
Maine scoffed. "He must be with another woman. God! RJ, you still haven't changed!"
Alex side-eyes Maine at her comment as he tried RJ's home number this time. "Hello! Is RJ in? No? Where is that again? Okay. Thanks."
He looked at Mark, "Let's go. I know where he is," giving Mark a meaningful look.
"What could it be this time? I hope his ulcers haven't acted up again."
Maine started running after them. "Wait, I'm coming with you!"
~~St. Luke's Hospital, BGC~~
Hospital~~Butler Walter stood up as soon as he saw RJ. "Sir, I'm very sorry! I'm very sorry. You may fire me right now."
"Hold your horses. Where is Sebastian?"
"He is inside with the doctor. Nanny Virgie is with him."
RJ barged in the room, almost knocking the doctor down. It was a good thing that his reflexes were alert that he was able to grab the doctor's arms, preventing the poor man from falling down. RJ quickly apologized and asked about Sebastian's condition.
The ER doctor, thinking that RJ is the baby's father, "I'm glad you're here sir. Your son has the West Nile fever."
RJ, not bothering to correct the doctor, "What does one bank of the Nile River have anything to do with Sebastian?"
"Sir, the virus that the patient has contracted is called the West Nile fever. It is caused by a virus that is spread by mosquitos. Its symptoms include fever, headache, skin rashes and swollen lymph glands. It's in the family of Zika and Dengue fevers."
"How do you treat it?"
"We treat it with IV fluids, respiratory support if the patient needs it, and anti-bacterial for prevention of secondary infections like pneumonia or urinary tract infections. But with your son's case, his blood platelet count is going low. Usually, we administer steroids to raise the platelet counts, but it's not advisable for him considering his age. The best way to go is blood transfusion."
RJ, getting irritated that the doctor hasn't done the transfusion yet. "Then what are you waiting for?!"
"That's the problem sir; we don't have his blood type in stock. He is AB negative. We've sent out calls for his blood type but so far, we haven't had any luck with the other hospitals."
