Chapter 66: All Over

The manager of Harry Winston nodded courteously as soon as he saw them approaching. "I trust that the Madame is most eager to have her ring back."

RJ and Maine were back at the shop where RJ bought her oversized ring to have it resized after their late afternoon snack at Cafe Mediterranean, but not before making a quick detour to the drugstore where they bought breath fresheners to remove their garlic and onion breath.

RJ patted Maine's arm in the crook of his arm. "She is Bernard. She is."

"Then this way please. I wouldn't like to make the young Madame wait any longer."

"No need to hurry Bernard. I've waited a long time for that ring, I don't think a few minutes would hurt." Maine said as they walked along the aisle lined with jewelry casings and displays. Her attention drawn to the display shelf that contained wedding bands.

"Maine," RJ whispered when she slowed down. "Do you see anything that you like? Come on, tell me so that we can ask Bernard to bring it to us in the private room."

She shook her head. "No. I'm just overwhelmed with all the glittering display."

"They're no match to the brilliance you and Sebastian bring to my life."

Bernard placed a whole jewelry set before Maine as RJ assisted her to sit.

Maine gave RJ a questioning look as he sat on the chair beside her. "There must be a mistake. We only had my ring resized."

"There is no mistake Madame." Bernard's gaze shifting between Maine's confused face and that of RJ's smiling one. "You see, Monsieur didn't just bought the ring when he first came here. He bought the entire set. He said that the next time he'll be here, he would be with the real owner. And here you are now."

RJ stood up and got the ring's matching necklace from its stand and went to stand behind Maine to put it on. "You really shouldn't have. The ring was more than enough for me." Maine said to him in the mirror that Bernard strategically positioned on the table.

His locked with hers. "These are nothing compared to what you have given me." RJ mouthed 'I love you," into his smile. Maine answered him in the same way.

After their little exchange in the mirror. RJ asked Bernard to wrap up all their purchases, with emphasis on the word all. Bernard nodded in understanding. "You don't need to wrap up my ring, Bernard," Maine said as she reached out for it.

But RJ's hand was there before she could reach it. "Let's save this for a better place?" RJ said as he pocketed the box that contained her engagement ring.

"Here you go Monsieur. You'll find EVERYTHING that you ordered in there." Bernard said with a wink as he handed RJ the paper bag that contained his purchases.

"RJ, you just missed our turn there," Maine observed as RJ maneuvered his SUV headlong into Bonifacio Global City's business district's traffic. "Do you need anything from your office?"

RJ just kept silent and continued driving. He pulled into an open space in front of a building right in the heart of the city. He quickly got out and jogged over to her side.

Maine looked up the tall building, it's the Shangri-La-la The Fort. She felt an overwhelming feeling of déjà vu. The sound of the SUV keys being thrown by RJ to the valet shattered the feeling. "Why are we here?" she asked as RJ led the way into the building. RJ looked back at her and smiled but didn't answer her question.
