She fidgeted with his fingers which were intertwined with hers nervously.
"Are you alright?", he asked, only to receive silence from the girl. "Don't be nervous, I'm here."
Airi gave him a reassuring smile, to which he also responded with a same one right after. A few minutes passed, yet there was still no response from inside the door. There were in the same hospital Airi was admitted during the camping incident, and they even had the appointment with the same doctor. Airi has had her blood taken a few days prior, and now they were back for the doctor to confirm her blood testing.
The girl couldn't help but to feel anxious about it, what if the substance used could be extremely fatal to the girl's body? If she had to be honest, she really didn't want to die young.
As if on cue, the door to the doctor's office opened. There revealed a man in his mid fifties wearing the familiar long white hospital coat holding onto a clipboard, possibly filled with the details of her blood.
The pair stood up at the sight of him, and Airi quickly made her way towards the man. "Doctor?"
"So, Airi Himari right? And you're with Shoto Todoroki as a replacement for your caretakers?"
"Yes. I'm a friend of hers.", he answered from beside her.
The doctor sighed, his eyes trailing over to the words on the clipboard before shifting them to the girl. "Unfortunately, we weren't able to detect any abnormalities in your blood. However, further detailed tests are able to prove there are faints of some kind of thick substance running through."
"And... what is it?"
"However, the source is unknown.", he deeply stated with a tone lacing with disappointment. "We can try and confirm the source of the substance but we will have to send your blood to another lab specific for hero and villain related cases. The process will be a bit long though."
Airi's expression dropped, which made Shoto squeeze both of her shoulders comfortingly from behind. As he whispered a few words in reassurance, the doctor saw how the hope in the her eyes faltered. Feeling sympathy for Airi since she was still young to undergo these kind of villain-like conditions, he decided to ask her a few questions.
