Airi couldn't stop grinning like a small kid, even her jaws were tired.
The whole family was sitting on the dining table, while Ichika was preparing dinner in the kitchen. Ichika had insisted for Shoto to stay for dinner, and since it was a rare sight to see Airi this joyful, he decided stay. Hina and Reo were busy setting up the table by placing plates and glasses, and Airi was helping with the cooking.
"We might be in short of condensed milk. Honey, can you go get them in the storeroom?", she instructed her oldest daughter while stirring the milk tea in the teapot.
"Okay!", filled with joy and excitement, she quickly made her way out.
Shoto managed a warm smile at the suddenly so hyperactive girl, a lighthearted feeling swarming his chest. His gaze followed her figure right until she walked out of the kitchen. He didn't even notice he had almost cut his fingers when he barely lost his aim of the knife on the tomatoes. Luckily, the older one held his wrist alarmingly, and he flinched visibly in shock.
"Eyes on the cutting board, young man. You might lose a finger.", Ichika lightly chuckled, as he muttered out a few apologies in embarassment.
She returned her gaze to the soup on the stove,"I forgot to ask you your name."
"Ah, right! I'm Shoto Todoroki.", he introduced himself, shortly bowing his head as a sign of respect.
Ichika bursted into a melody of motherly chuckles, shifting an amused gaze at the latter. His eyes were painted in confusion when she joked, "I'm just kidding. I know you so well. Mari has been talking about you since her first day in UA. Endeavor's son, right?"
With a small smile, Shoto nodded shyly while focusing on his chore on the cutting board. It was a rare occasion for Shoto to meet a friend's parent, so having to go with the flow was definitely a disadvantage for the latter. Ichika, being a very observant person, noticed this trait of his. Which was why she was trying her hardest to make the boy comfortable in her company.
"You seem to be a good friend of hers. She talks about you every time I call her.", Ichika sighed lovingly. "Not to mention how many times she sends me your photos together. That girl is seriously obsessed."
