She wasn't looking for a knight,
she was looking for a sword.

It felt just like déjà vu for the pair.Just the two of them, looking at each other's eyes intently as if they were trying to read each other's mind. The whole stadium was bursting with cheers of enthusiasm from the audience, each and everyone of the spectators and Pro Heroes had anticipated this battle between the two strongest students in the class. But for some unknown reason, the both of them heard nothing.
It was as if they had muted their own world, as they listened to their soft breathing and paid attention to each other's figures before the battle begins.
They had battled with each other several times already, spending every evening beating each other up only to develop their own abilities. It was exactly the same. The size of the arena, the type of ground they were standing on, the same person, the same quirk. But why did it feel so different this time?
Airi tried to shrug of the nervous feeling tugging in her heart, inhaling and exhaling deep breaths to stabilise her ventilation rate, but it didn't seem to work. She knew the pair of heterochromic eyes gazing back at her had just the same amount of determination like her to win. To defeat the other. To be crowned champion.
On the other side, the lad seemed to look very relaxed. Unlike the girl, he
didn't look as nervous as her. But that didn't meant he wasn't nervous. He admitted to himself silently, he actually felt like pissing his pants at that point as he continued to look into the girl's eyes. He saw how much potential she had in posession throughout the whole month they had been training together, and he didn't lie when he said she was actually already too incredible for her sake. She was practically capable enough to be labelled as a Pro Hero. But then again, Airi said the same thing to him.It was nerve wrecking.
Even the few seconds before the battle starts felt like deafening hours to her since the only thing she could hear amidst the loud cheers of the crowd surrounding her was her heartbeat drumming furiously in her ears.
"We'll fight each other until the end."
That was the last sentence Shoto said to her before they entered the arena together. It felt surreal. Just like how they met each other the first time on the training grounds of UA, their eyes only held determination.
