it didn't matter that she fell apart, it was how she puts herself back together

She closed her eyes, exhaling a deep breath ever so slowly.

As she fluttered her eyes open, she continued to focus on fastening her wrist guards to hopefully distract herself from the increasing anxiety felt under her skin. Of course she was nervous, I mean who the hell wasn't? The fact that she was dragging herself into a battlefield filled with the unknowns, with one theory in mind and without a backup plan, she couldn't believe it herself she had agreed to this mission in the first place.

Team One was ready on top of a small mountain, the view of Jaku Hospital so calm under the hills. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a normal working day for the hospital staff. Endeavor insisted the young female trainee of his to join their class huddle as the last few minutes ticked away, knowing the girl would need the moral support from her classmates.

Her train of thoughts were interrupted with the familiar view of black boots approaching her, as she focused on her palms. Airi raised her head, those crimson red orbs looking into hers with a mixture of emotions she couldn't quite read.

"I hope you realise what you're throwing yourself into, loser."

Airi managed a tight smile at his sentence, which seemed to sound like a warning, nevertheless she replied, "Kinda too late for a realisation, don't you think?"

"Tch.", he forcefully looked away, fists clenching by his sides. "You're so fucking stubborn, it's annoying."

"I know."

Bakugou took note of her short replies and peculiarly quiet state, which meant she was trying so hard to collect herself and mask away the fear and uneasiness in her heart. Taking a step closer, he said this in a tone audible to the pair,

"Don't try and do the same thing like last year, throwing your life away and shit. Make sure you're coming back in one piece. You hear me?"

Airi knew so well the hot-headed boy didn't know how to properly say 'Take care of yourself, don't get yourself killed' in his own words. But she appreciated the effort, as a thankful look can be seen on her features,

"I will. Those High End Nomu's are nothing compared to what I faced last year. Thank you for the concern, Katsuki. You take care too."

Bakugou didn't know how to reply, he was still so hesitant to let the girl go alone since she had the habit to care for others more than she does for her own life. But there was nothing he could do about it. Not when they were minutes away from their war.
