His heartbeat skipped a beat as soon as that sentence escaped the doctor's lips. Shoto immediately shot up from his seat, taking quick steps to the doctor in a rushing manner.
"S-She is? C-Can I see her?"
With eyes widening in shock at the suddenly so loud visitor, the doctor held his arms up to stop him from barging in the hospital ward. "Y-Yes, but you will have to wait until the nurses complete their procedure for any visitors."
"How is my daughter's condition? I-Is she stable?", Ichika's voice trembled as she asked this.
"Don't worry, Airi Himari is fine. Thanks to the healing quirk fluid implanted in her body, it's helping her body to cure. However, this natural process of healing in her body is very weak due to the other quirk fluids which are also damaging her body's circulatory system at the same time. It's kind of like 49 damage to 1 strong healing quirk fighting with each other. Honestly, even I am surprised at how her heart's even beating at this point."
"Is there anyway for you to remove the quirk fluids?"
At the sound of Ichika's question, the doctor released a deep sigh while dropping his gaze down onto the clipboard in his hands. Scanning down the information, he then explained,
"We're trying our best. The quirk fluids have been implanted too long in her blood vessels, so all of them have mostly dissolved. We're trying to use the same method as dialysis, but if we continue that method any further, she might experience fatal blood loss. For now, we'll be depending on her healing quirk."
Shoto blinked continuously, his eyes heavy with tears.
"S-So... will... she live?"
The doctor connected his gaze with his concerned heterochromic ones, a sympathy look flickering across his eyes. He had met this boy before, during Airi's last checkup about the quirk fluids in her blood. Although he doesn't really have that much information about their relationship, the amount of concern held in Shoto's eyes explained how much the girl meant to him.
"Unfortunately, she's in a very deep coma. She hasn't been showing any signs of consciousness even after a whole hour after the surgery. The possibilities of her living.... it's a 60-40 chance."
