Airi took a deep breath. She lifted her eyes, squinting at the sight of her mother as her vision once again blurred. She was losing herself again. Don't lose yourself! Don't give up! She chanted silently in her mind, as her short legs struggled to stand up again.
"Come on, sweetheart. We don't got all day. Get those feet up and fight!", Ichika urged her own daughter, slapping her thighs to give her encouragement.
The small five year old girl tried hard to stand up despite the excruciating pain throbbing throughout her body. She panted heavily, her wobbly legs barely holding up her weight anymore. She couldn't give up, not now, not yet.
With a fighting spirit, she forced herself to finally stand up. She then raised her right hand, the beautiful purple flames sprouting from her palms as she slowly tried to manipulate a stronger energy this time. It took a her a lot of focus to even stand up for herself, but Airi still tried to control those demons and entities around her.
She lifted her gaze to look at her mother, who was in a fighting stance as she waited for her daughter to finally attack her with those purple flames she had in her right palm. Her mother had a proud smile on her face, gesturing Airi to throw that orb of energy towards her. Airi could see how tired her mother was after fighting with her for two hours straight, yet her mother kept on going. She kept on going even though she was tired, so why couldn't Airi do the same?
With a loud growl, Airi yelled in pain as she threw the orb of purple flames she had collected towards her mother, throwing her whole body with it. With such great speed, the training hall's ground rumbled, and the flames finally devoured her mother, throwing her off towards the wall with a loud thump. Ichika's body slammed against the wall and bounced off towards the cement ground, leaving her tired body slump helplessly against the floor.
Airi panted heavily. Taking one last deep breath, she exhaled it with a loud groan and her body finally couldn't take it anymore. Her body dropped on the ground with a thud, and the last thing she saw was none other than the vision of her mother's smiling face, telling her,
"You finally did it, Mari. You defeated mommy!"
"Again."
Ichika repeated the same word, forcing Airi to continue attacking her after so many failed attempts. As years went by, Ichika was getting more strict with her private trainings with Airi, already getting used to her same old techniques.
"Mom, I'm tired-"
"What did you say?"
Ichika quirked an eyebrow, a warning tone laced with her words. Airi's eyes slightly widened when she realised she accidentally said that out loud.
