The moon seemed to shine brighter on that night. The pair sat beside each other, leaning on the walls of Airi's roof. Apparently, Airi insisted the boy to go back early after tucking in Reo and Hina to bed since she wanted Shoto to witness the full moon with her on that special night. For Airi, even the most insignificant extraterrestrial phenomenons would be important to her. Even though it was already too late for Shoto and way past his curfew, he didn't hesitate even a slight bit to accept her proposal. He thought it was worth it, just to see the beautiful night sky and the specially bright glowing moon with the presence of the girl beside him.
For the first time, Shoto felt at home.
It was Airi's presence that made him realise how much impact she had made on him for the past few months they had been friends. He tried to ignore the butterflies swarming in his stomach and his racing heartbeat against his ribcage as Airi laid her head on his shoulder blades, feeling her warm skin against his cold ones. Airi did find the action to be too intimate, but after the call incident with her mother, she was yearning for someone's touch, someone's embrace. And if she had to be honest, that was one of the reasons why she wanted Shoto to stay longer.
Airi lifted her gaze and looked at the bright full moon, her eyes sparkling at the sight. "It's beautiful, isn't it?"
Shoto hummed in response. "It is."
And the girl turned quiet again. Shoto was slightly weirded out with her peculiarly silent behaviour for the past few minutes, knowing as hell the girl would start a conversation at least a few minutes before or even now. But, no. The girl kept her mouth shut, only her eyes locked on the thousands of stars above them that decorated the night sky.
Shoto contemplated for a few seconds, his eyes darting around mindlessly. He had so many questions in his head to ask Airi, but he didn't know if he should. Nevertheless, he took a deep breath, and asked,
"Airi, do you remember the first day you told me about..... your quirk?"
"In the training hall?"
"Yeah."
Airi recalled that day clearly.
"I remember.", Airi lifted her head off from leaning on his shoulders, "Why do you ask?"
