I wake up a few hours later due to the sun shining in my eyes like a mother fucker again after I opened my curtains to let in some light the other day. My eyes crack open and I feel the stiffness of my eyelids wanting to work against me but I force them until I squint at the brightness and roll over to find my phone plugged in and a folded up piece of paper shoved underneath. My eyebrows furrow out of curiosity when last night replays in my head and I sit up in my sweatshirt and joggers from this morning. I feel too hot and covered up so, I wave a hand over my chest that changes my outfit to a pair of black leggings and a light pink long sleeved shirt from a blue ring one magic being sent down my body. Relaxed, I lean over and grab my phone to slide it in the pocket on my thigh where my attention is only on the note I pick up and unfold to see probably the most elegant handwriting with a signature below.

Good morning, doll!

I'm sorry, I had to go back to the compound to prepare for the stupid Avengers thing.

I'll call you when I can.

P.S. Your dagger is on the dresser in its sheath.

- Bucky

I smile softly at the note he took the time to write and I tuck it away in the little cubby under my nightstand. With my morning stretch, I get up and walk to my dresser to find my dagger Bucky left in my thigh strap perfectly placed on the dresser. I pat it twice as a thought that doesn't hurt anyone and walk into the bathroom to freshen up my teeth and braid my hair kinda like Elsa as a last second thought. I head out of my room and make myself a bowl of cereal, not really in the mood to eat but I know Bucky will be up my ass if I don't because every conversation in the morning starts out as 'did you eat yet? You need to eat. I'm getting you something to eat.' etcetera. During my breakfast, I scroll through my phone to update myself on all the news and finding nothing besides people freaking out about the people who were accepted to enter the program for the Avengers. It bores me until I finish my cereal after a while and place it in the sink, now looking long and hard at it.

"I clean it later." I shrug and grab my keys

I head out of my apartment and walk right across the hall where I give three soft but loud knocks and step back to wait patiently. After a moment, the door opens a few seconds later to present me with Mother Mary smiling and happy. She's wearing a pretty light blue dress with white flats and her hair is short and puffed up in her classic, signature all while afro as she is wearing the biggest smile on her face.

"Y/n! How are you!" Mary gasps while holding her hands out and I step into her hold with a smile and hug her tight to my body

"I'm doing good. I've been getting more sleep like you said." I pull away and fidget with my keys

"Oh, I'm glad!" She claps and holds them up to her chest. "What changed? Did Dana finally pull some of her weight?" She asks

I laugh and shake my head at Mary's tenser side that she lets loose sometimes. She's always nice and doesn't have a mean bone in her body but when she gets protective, she can say some things that make you wish you were never born, not that I have seen it, but I think if Dana ever pushed me passed my limit which is set really high, I would bring Mother Mary in the bookstore instead of Bucky. In my opinion, she's scarier and more intimidating than Bucky by a hundred fucking miles.

"Well, no but I have been getting help from my friends." I shrug nonchalantly

"Y/n! You made friends?" She cheers with a smile so big

"Mary, you act like it's my first day at school." I sigh and roll my eyes before shifting my weight on my left foot that pops my hip out

"Darling, we both know how hard it is for you to socialize." She clarifies herself. "I am not belittling you, I couldn't be more proud." She smiles her motherly smile that makes me want to sink into her arms
