Bucky and I decided to leave our bags at the end of the bed that sits in the middle of the room and unpack later tonight or even tomorrow after visiting everyone and getting comfortable for my sake. We stayed up in the bedroom for a little bit so I could check out my surroundings and calm down a little bit from all of the attention I received when talking to Cass, not that I minded in the moment, but the thoughts never show mercy afterwards. The bathroom was pretty big but way smaller than what I am used to with a sink to the right and the tiny closet to the left with the shower next to it and a toilet in front of it. We did unload my medical supplies and shower things along with Bucky's things in the bathroom while we were in there.
After about an hour of silence, I decided that Louisiana weather was warmer than New York's so I got rid of the thin black jacket and leave my sling and gauze out in the open but I don't care. My tattoo however, stays hidden under the crop top that is just long enough by ending at the belt loops of my jeans. Bucky and I now sit on the love seat in the living room with Steve, Sam, and Sarah sitting on the larger couch to our right and Michelle to our diagonal left, sitting in a rocking chair with her baby sitting at her feet fast asleep in their carseat. We are all talking about random things when Aj and Cass come rushing into the living room with Steve's shield in Aj's hand and the worn leather covering in Cass'.
"Mom, can we play with Uncle Steve's shield now?" Cass asks impatiently
"Boys, you know the rules." Sarah says and tilts her chin down a little in a slight scold when she has to remind her boys. "Not unless one of us are watching and when we are done talking."
"You guys have been talking for hours though!" He groans
"It's only been an hour." Aj and I deadpan that makes the family laugh
"Ugh!" Cass sighs and drops his head to look across the ground, hoping his saddened look will make his mom break but it doesn't and never does from what we were talking about until his wandering eyes find my feet and a smile appears on his face when those wondrous eyes lift up at me
"Oh, no." I find his smile contagious when he hands Aj the shield covering and looks at his mom with now puppy dog eyes instead of the saddened ones
"Then can Y/n show us a magic trick?" He asks and I laugh when the question stumps her
"That is not a question for me." Sarah smiles and holds her hands up while Cass' eyes shoot over to me as well as everyone else and I swallow, putting on my best smile while feeling Bucky's left hand tighten around my shoulders
"Why don't we do both?" I offer
"Both?" Aj says with a confused face
"Yeah." I nod and stand up so the three of us stand in the middle of the living room with all eyes on us as I grab the cover to Steve's shield and pass it over to him. "I just need a simple spell out of my book." I hold out my hand with my palm to the ground and with a roll of my wrist, my green spell book appears in my hand and the kids eyes go wide
"Mom!" Cass erupts with exhilaration. "Mom, look!"
"Man, the kids are gonna love this." Sam has a huge smile on his face as well as Sarah when she sees Aj and Cass with wide eyes and parted lips that make them look like surprised twins
"Almost got it." I use a spell to hold the book in the air to my left and flip through the pages until I get to the one I am looking for. "Ah! There it is!" I smile as I let my magic rise and everyone's eyes follow the navy blue magic flowing from my chest and into my arms and finally pooling at my fingertips
"So pretty." Bucky mutters behind me when my eyes glow a bright dark blue as they study everyone's expression before landing on his
"Holy sh-" Cass starts in stunned surprise
