A few hours later and we never went down the the dock because one, we didn't have the time and two, we all wanted a relaxed day as a first day down here without having to repeat how good we've been and updating everyone on everything they didn't see on the internet thanks to Natasha who unknowingly keeps them up to date. Michelle eventually came back from the store and Steve had a bright fucking idea to take Maverick from me before Michelle saw because Lord only knows she would beat my ass if she saw anyone besides one of other Avengers holding her baby.

Did I mention she would try to beat my ass? With extra emphasis on the 'try'.

Oh, well I'm mentioning it now.

Sarah was way too tired to do anything else tonight and that's also another reason why we didn't go down to the dock. Sam took her to her room and tucked her in after convincing her we will be okay while I placed a soundproof spell on the walls for the night so Cass and Aj wouldn't wake her up with their VR gameplay which they have built a tolerance to as they have been playing for hours in the living room. Steve and Sam are cleaning everything outside while I clean everything inside the kitchen and Bucky cleans the living room but he's currently on a bathroom break and those usually take a long minute for whatever reason.

"Hey." I hear behind me and almost freeze while my hands are covered in soap, trying to wash the pans from dinner and I drop my shoulders the fraction they went up as I slowly look over to my right like I'm expecting  a jump scare only, it's Michelle smiling at me with a sleepy Maverick on her hip

Same difference?

Sorry, I won't be petty.

"Hi." I furrow my eyebrows a little while holding out the word to display the awkwardness but Michelle chuckles, not feeling or seeing it as much as me

"I just wanted to say thank you for Maverick's outfit." Michelle says and I find sincerity in her chest through my magic that makes me blink. "It's really cute." She compliments

"How did you know it was me?" I ask, uninterested in the conversation as I go back to washing the dishes

I just want to see what comments she comes up with this time.

"I don't think any of you would have the time to go out and randomly get him a new outfit while I was at the store." She tilts her head to the side with a smile

"Okay, yeah." I shrug a nod. "You have a point." I admit

"I just want to know... why?" She asks and I look at my reflection in the water seeing my puzzled look

"Why I would conjure him a new outfit?" I ask back

"Well, that." She nods while leaning against the counter as Maverick sleeps soundly against her shoulder. "And why you are so nice."

"All I can say is that Maverick doesn't need to be in this windy weather in what he was wearing before and I don't know." I shrug while scrubbing mindlessly in one spot as I speak. "And It's just how I was raised. To be nice to everyone."

"You must have good parents then." She smiles genuinely which is really catching me off guard right now

"I did." I nod in agreement

"Oh, they aren't here anymore?" She slightly frowns when I glance at her as I rinse the dishes off and set them in the drying rack

"Uh, no." I shake my head. "Not anymore."

"Oh, I'm sorry." She apologizes

"It's okay." I give my best smile. "You didn't know and it was years ago."
