The next morning, Niya awoke in bed, unsure of how she got there. Beside her, Niko slept on.
Had last night happened? She grabbed onto the Red Jewel and felt it was warm and full again.
Weird, Niya rubbed her head. What a strange dream.

The rest of the day went by in a blur. It was strange that everything was so... normal. There was breakfast, there was lunch, there was her family. They were so kind to her and her son, it felt like a dream, too good to be true.
Kusuke offered to spar against Niya, but Makona warned them that they shouldn't fight since both of them were wearing the Red Jewel. She explained that it would cause disastrous effects.
The rest of the day went by, and it was night again. That night, Niko had no trouble sleeping, but Niya did. She laid in bed, staring up at the white ceiling, hearing the clock on the wall go on endlessly: tick, tock, tick, tock...
Again, Niya got out of bed and went outside. The cold gripped her skin, keeping her awake, but making her weak. She did not tremble or cry, she just sat by herself, the wind rustling around her.
"Couldn't sleep?"
Niya flinched as the figure sat down beside her. She shook her head.
"I'm sorry to hear that, princess," the saiyan wrapped an arm around her shoulders and pulled her against him. When she didn't reply, he began again, "Can I ask why you can't look at your mother?"
Niya tensed. "It's complicated..."
Seeing that she didn't want to continue the conversation, Natu dropped the subject. "Do you want talk about why you're out here?"
Niya looked down at the grass. "I'm alone..."
"No, you're not," Natu shook his head. "Why would you say that?"
It all came spilling out in their native language. "Because you're gone, Kusuke is gone, Mom is gone, Gohan is gone, Goku and everyone else -- they're gone too! I messed up and got involved with someone I never should have! My world is in ruins, and I can't fix it because I'm such a coward! I'm so weak! I try my best to be happy and be encouraging, but it's so hard sometimes, I feel like I can't breathe! And now, this timeline could be even worse with Cell, and it's all our fault! And Trunks is super strong now, but it's still not enough. And--And he's so different, and--and I wish I could talk to him, and--and I miss him...!"
Natu hugged her tight as she began to cry. "It's okay to feel like this, Niya," he assured her. "I'm not going to say that everything will be okay, because I don't know, but you're not alone. Here and now, I'm here, your mother is here, your brother is here, your Aunt is here, your son is here, and even Trunks is here. We all care about you, and we're all scared, but you're never alone. You should talk to Trunks when you see him tomorrow and tell him how you feel."
Niya sniffled and looked up at him. "Tell him how I feel?"
Natu smiled knowingly at her. "You think I don't know? You're always going on and on about Trunks, and the way you two interact... There's something between you two, I can tell, that makes you more than just friends. You miss him a lot, don't you?"
Niya nodded hesitantly. "I do... Everyday," she sniffled and wiped her nose.
"Then?" Natu wiped her cheeks. "What's holding you back? Is it the kid? Because of what happened in the past?"
Niya looked away. "I broke Trunks' heart because of what happened. He was in love with me. He always has been. But I didn't see it clearly until it was too late..."
