Noemi slurped down her bowl of ramen. It was delicious. She hadn't eaten out in forever. She set down her bowl and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. She then eyed the two Androids in front of her.
17 had covered his hair with his orange bandana and hid his eyes with black tinted sunglasses. His sister wore a sun hat and matching sunglasses. She had her arms crossed, mostly likely bored and agitated. 17 was pretending to read the newspaper while the girl finished her meal.
Noemi wondered why they would wear disguises in undestroyed towns and cities. She found herself curiously staring.
In a flash, 17 folded down his newspaper and pulled off his sunglasses to meet her eyes, making her flinch. "Good. You're finally done. Now we can leave," he moved to stand.
18 also moved to stand, but Noemi looked down her plastic cup with water and ice. This would probably be her last meal, her last sip at water. Sooner or later, she felt, the Androids would kill her for her lies. Then, they would kill all humans.
"Hurry up, kid," 17 glared at her sitting at the table as he held the restaurant door open. He flinched at entering customers thanking him.
Noemi looked down at the cup and chugged the rest of the water, only leaving the ice cubes. She then jumped out of her seat as she left her bowl and cup at the table. She waited for an old man to enter with an appreciative look at 17 before walking out the doors.
18 was waiting outside for them impatiently. "Ugh. Let's leave now."
"Alright, Noemi," 17 said her name with almost disgust, "we've fed you, but nothing has changed. Now, take us to who we want."
Noemi felt the food in her stomach twist and swirl, adding to her anxiety. "U-Um," she placed a hand on her stomach. "Okay."
"Which direction?" 17 asked, his voice straining from his patience running thin.
Noemi thought hard, pretending to sense around as she eyed the people walking around. Then she glanced in a direction. "North," she said. "They went North."
An idea brewed in Noemi's mind. The North was the only place where she could attempt to execute her plan.
17 stared hard at her before glancing around and taking off walking, slipping his sunglasses back on. "Then, you need a coat," he said. "We can't have you freezing to death just yet."
18 sighed and followed along.
Noemi clenched her fists. Although her plan would surely fail, she hoped it would at least buy her Aunt, Trunks, and Niko time to return.
Before 17 could tell her to hurry up, she ran to catch up.
Noemi let out a breath, creating a small cloud of warmth before it soon faded away. She had only been to the North once with her parents. Her first and joyful experience with snow. It was such a happy time so long ago...
"Damn it, Niya," 17 mumbled, "She always loved the snow. I should have figured she would hide here."
"Hmph. I don't get why you even like her," 18 remarked, annoyed. "I still can't believe you have a kid with her. A saiyan."
17 shoved his hands into his trench coat pockets, the same brown trench coat he had let Niya wear from time to time.
It was sometimes hard to believe himself, that he - Android 17 - fell in love with a female saiyan and even had a son with her.
He was silent as he thought of how much Niya had changed him over the years. He had always thought she was a human until just before they knew she was pregnant. When she found out he was Android 17, he had found out she was a saiyan. Their relationship changed forever from that point, and they forever changed as they became parents.
