Trunks grunted as he was pushed back against a boulder. He narrowed his eyes as he focused on his opponent.
Niya smirked, "I guess I'm stronger now."
Trunks pulled away from the boulder. "We'll see about that."
A year had passed, and they were both thirteen years old. And in that year, they had both strived to become stronger, as their goal to defeat the Androids never left their sight. But the main difference between them was that fighting against each other made Niya excited more than anything.
Trunks didn't share that same excitement for fighting like she did. He trained hard and tirelessly because he felt like he needed to. He needed to defeat the Androids. That was his reason for fighting. To protect the Earth and its innocent inhabitants. To end the thirteen year war of humanity against the Androids. It needed to be put to an end. He grew furious at the thought of being unable to save anyone from their cruel clutches.
In a moment of fury, as Niya flew towards him, Trunks focused energy in his fists and ducked her leg swing. He grabbed her leg, much to her surprise, and drove his fist into her stomach.
Niya retched and fell onto her back. She coughed as she sat up, holding her stomach. "Oh wow. That really hurt...," she lightly laughed.
Trunks was taken aback at his strength. He didn't mean to hit her so hard. "Hey," he kneeled down next to her, "are you okay?"
Niya smiled and wrapped crimson ki around her hand before pressing it on her stomach. She flinched from the pain but managed to take a deep breath. The ki glowed brighter until it faded and disappeared. She patted her stomach.
"There. All better!" she smiled at him.
Trunks was impressed with her healing abilities. She had gotten much better at it, and she was able to withstand healing much more. In a span of a year, she had gotten stronger as a healer and as a fighter. And still, she and him were just friends.
Trunks gave a small smile, "Good. I'm glad."
Niya smiled at him before looking up at the sky. It was about lunch time. "Come on. Let's go back so we can eat. I am hungry!" she jumped to her feet and patted her stomach.
Trunks chuckled. So bright and beautiful, he couldn't help but think. He mentally smacked himself for the thought but didn't show anything.
He rose to his feet. "Okay. Let's go."
Just before taking off, Niya turned to him. "I'll race you," she grinned.
"Race?" Trunks met her sparkling eyes. Then, he too grinned. They were always challenging each other. "You're on."
Niya giggled in excitement. She always had fun with Trunks. "Great! On three, we go!"
"Okay," Trunks nodded and turned in the direction of Capsule Corp.
Niya did the same and began counting. "One...," they both lowered to a runner's position. "Two...," they propped up. "... Three!"
In a flash, the two teen saiyans blasted off from their open field sparring site towards their home.
The two began to laugh when Niya jokingly bumped into Trunks. He bumped her back, and eventually, they began to chase each other rather than focus on their destination.
They laughed, and they twirled around each other, creating trails of their white and crimson energies. It mixed behind them and turned pink.
Niya gasped and giggled when Trunks reached for her foot and yanked off her boot. "Trunks! You are so silly!" she giggled. "Give it back!"
