62: Step-Family

(Age 788 - 1 year later)

"Niko!"

He turned to face his one-year-old sister. "Hey, Touka," he looked down at the toddler as she embraced one of his legs.

She giggled up at him as he began to walk to the fridge, serving himself some juice. He walked all the way back to the low table with his friends. Touka then settled on his lap when he sat down criss-crossed around the table.

Niko let out a breath and picked his playing cards back up. "You guys didn't cheat, right?"

"Whatttt? Of course notttt," Rasber replied.

Niko raised a brow.

"Don't listen to him," Jewel rolled her eyes. "I made sure he didn't do anything."

"So, he did try to cheat?" Niko asked.

"Maybe," she replied.

"Hey!" Rasber pouted. "Snitch."

"What? Niko asked."

He stuck out his tongue at her.

"Ew."

Touka giggled.

The Prince shook his head. "Let's just get back to the game."

Their card game continued, and Niko struggled to keep his sister from grabbing and chewing on the cards. "Please, don't," he pleaded as Touka snatched a card and waved it around. "I will throw you out the window."

"Niko."

He turned to see Trunks give him a look before swooping Touka into his arms. He took the card and returned it to Niko. "Be nice. You should've called me if you were so uncomfortable."

"You were training," Niko replied, returning to the card game.

"Then you should've called your Mother."

He frowned. "I dunno. Isn't she busy again?"

"No," Trunks replied. "She's reading in her room."

"She doesn't wanna be bothered."

Trunks sighed. "She wouldn't have minded at all."

"Well I did."

"Niko," Trunks said sternly.

Both Jewel and Rasber stopped playing the game, realizing they were in a midst of another of Niko's arguments.

"We should come back tomorrow," Jewel stood, pulling on her cousin to stand as well.

"Yeah. And I won't cheat tomorrow," Rasber assured.

"No. Stay," Niko insisted.

"They're right," Trunks decided before turning to the two. "Sorry. But it's time you two head on home for today."

Niko stood to refute, but Jewel offered a smile before leaving with Rasber. He then glared at Trunks when they were gone. "What's your problem!?"
