You pointed to the north
I pointed to the south
our connection was broken
before we even set foot on the road.
Sometimes I miss the little things;
the way you wrinkled your nose
when you watched me eating pickles
because you couldn't stand the smell.
You said that we need time
I said that we need therapy
our love was running down
before the pre-planned family vacation.
Sometimes I miss the simple things;
the days when you took the trash out
when you needed a break from writing
because you couldn't find the words.
It's like they'd say:
love comes and goes
in unexpected times
I'm trying to accept that
and I'll miss you
till the end of time.

M.
