On the first day of May
I tried to approach you
As you sipped your fizzy drink
Standing on the length of the bar.
You looked like a walking dream
I would get drunk by just staring at
Your beauty; sinking in your honey-golden eyes
And yet, I can't seem to get close to you.
On the second day of May
I tried to make you laugh
As I told you my many travel stories
At the same bar way past its closing time.
You sounded like a living wonder
I could listen to you all night long
Your view of life and the plans you had
And yet, you'd slip through my fingers.

A/N: To be frank here, writing poetry in a go is turning out to be second nature for me and I can't even pinpoint where or how it happens, so here you go - a somewhat romantic story of a relationship that didn't last or didn't even go anywhere. The moral of it is that you shouldn't go to people at the bar... or if you do, try a different approach, haha.
Happiest of May to you!
With love,
M.
