Winter comes with a deep, soft silence
I'd yearn for it all through the heavy months
To dance on snowy land with a childlike joy;
Something that still roars inside me today.
The beauty gives life a better meaning
Holds me close in cold, dark evenings
Until Spring peeks inside the clouds
As I'd wonder here where did it go
When I needed it the most.
Winter stays with ever-gentle, but fair grace
I'd long for its constant stillness in my aches
To cry during snowfall with a broken heart;
Doing anything to get me going from pain.
After the ease has had its needed show
Soothing almost all of my sore wounds
While Spring wants to bring more light
And I'd foresee what the next road
Would take me to experience.
. . .

A/N: I went on a small hike today and it was a total blizzard once I headed back and I was covered in snow lol. It made me think about the fact that we tend to oversee the beauty of winter, the snowfall and cold, crips days that comes with it. Living in a Nordic country it's not something I tend to oversee, because I adore winter and when I want to go on a hike, I'd go no matter the weather. But the silence, the blissful grace in the air, the wild animals and white lands on boths sides never fail to make me smile, so I wanted to express that with this poem. Winter can be soothing - no, it is soothing to the weary soul and I challenge you to go and look for that and if found, cold it close. Really, it's super vital!
With love,
M.
