I've been watching you start great wars
Making once gentle souls drink the blood
Of the enemy; at the prick of their madness
Craving a darkness so dark it'd blind them.
No sunlight is needed, no kiss on the nose
Every kind act or gesture is banned for now
As we'd set ourselves on fire over things that
Give only a glimmer of ease in a sea of pain.
I knew you before the big fall we all had
When terror was something to reach for
Cruelty and ignorance to overgrow others
To keep throwing your status in their faces.
No starlight to come, no real love to receive
Lightening the weak's burden is not the way to go
Like proper charity is doomed in this place
Topping our evil actions with hunger too.
. . .

A/N: Another one! On most days I'd have to fight to get a poem out of me but sometimes prompts can help me, so today I opened Pinterest and typed 'writing prompts' and took the first one that got my eye and here we are. I feel like at our core we're all good souls with good deeds and good attentions but sometimes life plays tricks with us and then we end up wanting to hurt others(of course it's not that easy but... yeah). Let this be your reminder that goodness, kind acts, and serving others can mend our broken hearts. And it'll surely be okay soon! (:
With love,
M.
