The hardest part about letting you go
Was waking up in an empty house
Feeling an ache in my chest
That was slowly killing me.
You painted the whole room
With all the colours of the rainbow
Saying that life was a gift
That just keeps on giving.
The even harder part was accepting it
Going to a cold bed every damn night
Facing a ghost of myself in a mirror
As she was trying to swallow me.
You kept buying me flowers
All the wildflowers you'd see
Wanting to brighter my mood
Whenever I was feeling low.
The hardest part about seeing you go
Was cooking breakfast for one
Trying to live days of joy
As if it'd give me the will to live.
You always made me laugh
Tossing jokes every hour of a day
Planning to drag me out
Of my constant misery.
The even harder past was moving on
Climbing out from the abyss of pain
Taking the life that I still had
Creating a better version of it.
You built sand castles for us
Creating a vision of a fairytale
Doing everything in your power
To make me happy.

A/N: I think we have one friend or a loved one who does everything for us; even jumping out of their skin to make us smile, and to provide us with a good life. I'd say it's fine as long as they don't drown in it, creating pain for themselves. There is a fine line between wanting and getting to help others and choosing to do so to ignore our own problems. So, please check in with your selfless friends and see if there is anything they need because sometimes asking can go a long way. Action is great too but in most cases, those kinds of people don't even think to stop to fill their own needs. Be as kind and loving as they are to you and you'll see that together you could build a better tomorrow. :)
With love,
M.
