Azriel walked over to Cassian and Rhysand "Cass everything is going to be ok," Rhys tried.

"How do you know that? What if she runs away? What if she doesn't love me anymore?"
"Cass of course she loves you," Rhysand put a hand on Cassian's shoulder.

He didn't seem to calm down. "Cassian, Nesta would never leave you. She wants to spend the rest of her life with you," Azriel let his shadows wrap around Cassian in a soothing motion.

Cassian rolled his shoulders and took a deep breath, "she loves me," he murmured, not a question but Azriel and Rhys still nodded.

Azriel had known Cassian all his life and still didn't understand how this day came to be. Cassian had many sides to him: a commander for Rhys armies. A Carynthian warrior. A trainer. A friend. a brother.

Azriel never understood how he found someone who loved every single side of him.

Of course Azriel loved every part of his brother, but it truly boggled his mind how Nesta might love Cassian more.

He was so happy for his brother. He just couldn't help but feel something gnawing away at his heart. And empty space where someone or something belonged.

He knew he would never get a mate. There were days when he hoped he did even though he knew it was never in the cards for him. so even though it pained him, he envied Cassian and Rhysand for finding someone who loved every side of them.

Azriel knew it would be impossible to find someone who loved every side of him. He couldn't even love every side of himself.

"Ok we have to go sit, cause it is starting soon," Rhys told Cassian, and he muttered, "shit."

"It's going to be fine," Rhys assured, "we are all here for you."

Cassian still looked a bit wary, so Azriel pulled back his shadows and opened his arms.

Cassian immediately wrapped his arms around Azriel in a tight hug.

Azriel huffed a laugh, and hugged him back just as tightly.

"You're going to do great," Azriel supplied, he was never the best with words.

Cassian nodded and released Azriel. Rhys and Azriel wished their friend luck one last time before leaving to take a seat in the temple.

They passed by Feyre and Elain and he couldn't help but stare. Gods, Elain was beautiful. He still didn't understand how attaining that kind of beauty was possible. Azriel didn't care if she was Lucien's mate; he wanted her more than he wanted anything else in his life.

Feyre handed Nyx over to Rhys. then Elain and Feyre went back to help Nesta, as Rhys and Azriel took a seat.
