Hi everyone! I'm really sorry for not posting for a while. A lot has been going on. I now have an instagram where I sell bookish jewelry and post book reviews and writing stuff. So If that sounds interesting to you it is reveribeadedjewelry on instagram. Anyway, this chapter has major 'Crescent City' spoilers and a spicy scene so beware. Also I am not at my house so I couldn't look in the book to set the scene more similarly to the last chapter in 'sky of house and breath' but it is fanfiction so what else do you really expect? Thanks so much for reading! I love you all soo much!

btw sorry if there are lots of typos I didn't have too much time to look it over...

"You are not fully healed."

Azriel frowned at Cassian whose arms were crossed in absolution.

"We will not need the distraction of an illyrian whose wings are damaged," Cassian said, and Azriel knew this was not his friend talking, this was a general talking to his soldier.

Still Azriel couldn't stay here useless. Not while Cassian was preparing the troops for war. Not while Nesta was reading the newly formed Valkyries.

Azriel should help. He should be out on a mission spying and gathering information, not sitting on his ass 'healing'.

"There would be nothing for you to do anyway. Eris is handling the revolt in Autumn." Cassian smirked. "Hopefully the ass of an heir will replace his father soon enough."

Azriel grunted his agreement. Though they hated Eris, he was on their side and would prove useful in the upcoming war with Koschei. Especially if his takeover results in Beron, Koschei's closest ally, dying.

"Go help your mate," Cassian teased, grinned wide.

Azriel used all of his willpower to suppress the smile that threatened to bloom on his face. It had only been a few days since Gwyn had accepted the mating.

"Someone needs to stay here in Valeris as well."

Azriel nodded and glanced upon his brother in front of the dusk sky.

"Be safe," Azriel murmured, hair blowing in the wind.

"always." Cassian dipped his head and spread his wings before shooting off into the stars.

Azriel watched his brother fly away, his whole body itching to join and help fight.

Azriel blew out a breath and retreated back into the town house. Gwyn and him had been winnowed back into Valeris. The mountain Palace was deemed unsafe because its location was as widely known as the night court itself. Valeris would be far safer.

He entered the near empty town house and followed his favorite scent up into a bedroom.

Him and Gwyn's shared bedroom.

He opened the door to his room and expected to find Gwyn asleep. To his utter surprise that was what he found.

At all.

Gwyn was sitting at the vanity brushing her wet hair in nothing but her undergarments. Nothing was hiding her breasts, there was only a tiny piece of cloth blocking his view from her fully bared body.

There was so much gorgeous freckled, unmarred skin on display Azriel forgot how to breathe for a moment.

No matter how many times her saw her bare body, her would never grow tired of it. Never grow tired of her smile or laugh or the sounds she makes when he presses kisses her lovely skin.
