Storming into the emergency station, fighting back the rush of cold air blowing into my face, Enzo ran ahead of me, grabbing me by the shoulders as I raised my hand for the nurse's attention.
"What, Enzo?" I hissed.
"Don't be angry at me..."
"You're the one who is keeping secrets...all of you."
"Can I help you two with something?" I heard another voice ask.
Looking over Enzo's shoulder, a male nurse in green scrubs stood behind him.
"I'm looking for Sheriff Forbes, they said she had been admitted."
"And you are?"
"Family friend."
"Alright, I'll be right back." He smiled.
Stepping off to the side, a few feet away from Enzo, I watched him as he looked around the room before standing next to me.
"I know you just came back and you feel like you need to save people-,"
"I'm not saving anyone...I was concerned about a friend's dying mother before Selene brought up this mysterious lie that you seem so inclined to keep from me." I snarled.
"I told you...it's not my place. And besides, I don't even know the entire story. She told me about the rules, nothing else...I know just as much as you do."
Glaring my eyes on him, there was a look of concern and worry when the nurse comes back with a piece of paper.
"This is her room number, if you head up the elevator the directional boards will help you find her." He smiled.
"...thank you."
Standing in the elevator with three feet between us, I stood there with my arms crossed over my chest and my eyes pinned on the red screen, watching as the numbers blinked. Trying to hold in my frustration and my curiosity to ask any more questions, the doors open and I immediately see the back of Damon's head, carrying a cup of coffee into a room.
"Damon!"
Striding out of the elevator, I jogged over barely catching him stepping inside the room before he looked back and around the corner to see me and Enzo heading down the hallway.
"Good, you made it." He sighed, handing me a coffee.
"...I would've gotten you one, Enzo but-"
"It's fine, mate."
With my eyes on Damon, I saw him make a quick glance at Enzo before he placed his hand on my shoulders and took me to the window that looked into Liz's room.
"There's our girl..."
"How is she?" I asked.
"She's doing okay...Doctors gave her some sedatives for the pain but she's been in and out of sleep the entire night."
"...what about Caroline?"
"She's heard the news...and she's maintained herself pretty busy." He mumbled.
"I just don't get it...why Liz, out of all people."
"I know..."
"Has the doctors said anything about how long she's known?" Enzo asked, feeling him standing behind me.
"Caroline said that she's known for a few weeks now...Liz was just waiting for the right time to tell her."
Sipping on my coffee, Damon moved over to the side, pushing down on the handle quietly.
