"Again," Elizabeth said as I tried casting the same spell over 10 times now.

"How long do I have to keep doing this?" I said.

"Until you can do it without actually saying the words. Today's the sacrifice, Lauren. He's coming for Elena, and if they use that Bennett witch, she'll come after you." She added.

Concentrating on the spell again, I managed to finish the exercise before continuing on another book.

"You've already mastered these, so I want to see what you can do. Come here."

Guiding me to the window, she opens it, letting the cold air run free.

"Now, I want you to do what you can with the sky. Stop the wind, find in a storm, whatever you want."

"What's this going to help me with?" I asked her.

"It's going to help you channel your surroundings. A Blackwell witch's power can never be taken away because we were the first of our kind. Now, go."

Staring out the window, I laid my hand on the frame and I closed my eyes and felt myself go into a trance.

The wind blowing against my skin had suddenly increased and the sound of paper rustling behind me starts a wind storm. The clouds became darker, the sky was pitch black, and the sound of thunder had echoed in my head.

"You're doing great, Lauren..." She whispered.

And then, I felt it. A cold drop landing in the middle of my hand followed by a gush of water falling from the sky.

"Okay, now try to change it back," Elizabeth whispered.

Calming down my heartbeat, I start to loosen my grip on the frame as the light from the sun gave off a red light just underneath my eyelids, and the smell of water and grass was evaporated from the air.

"Impressive." I heard James say.

Returning back from the trance, I turned to look at Elizabeth, who was smiling.

"What?"

"That was better than the first time I tried with mom, I caused a few animals around the acre to die because I was trying to cause thunder."

"And I struck a lightning bolt on one of our cows, we ate tongue, if I remember?" James chuckled.

"That's...disgusting," I added.

"Do you think you could handle your own if it came down to it?"

"Absolutely. But...with Elena's life on the line, if she dies-"

"The resurrection spell," James whispered.

"Has anyone been able to do it?" I asked.

"Only mother...we tried on her, but as you know, it didn't exactly work."

"How?"

"It's too dangerous, Lauren-"

"I'm already dead, what else could happen. I lost my uncle because I couldn't bring him back, the guy I care for lost his sister because she was turned, and Elena's going to die tonight." I said, glancing back and forth at the two of them.

"Fine...But James will show you." Elizabeth said, send one of the Grimoires in the shelf flying over to her.

Walking through the woods with James, we found ourselves in the middle of the large acre just near the pond, when he pulls out a Grimoire and lays it on a flat rock.
