Stefan's POV

Staring to pour myself a glass of bourbon, I stood behind the liquor cart as Damon stood near the fireplace complaining about Elena.

"She's the calmest desiccating vampire I've ever seen." Damon blurted out as he drank his glass of bourbon.

Slumping down onto one of the couches, we had just returned from Prom with a vervained Elena, who we threw into the basement.

"I remember when you starved me down there for three days. I would've wept at your feet for an orange peel."

"Look, she's not gonna beg for blood. Begging means desperation, emotion...if Lauren took her word seriously, who knows what she must've taught Elena while we weren't around." I mumbled, taking a sip of bourbon.

"Patience...I'm sure of it. I mean, 50 years later and she can outsmart the hell out of us." Damon hissed.

"Almost a lifetime...maybe she's passing on her baton."

"Well, Elena needs to give it back..."

"How hungry does she have to be before we can torture some feelings back into her?" Damon added.

"A lot hungrier than she is now apparently."

"So what are we supposed to do in the meantime? We can't get to Lauren if Elena is still like this, she'll run." Damon asked.

"Maybe you can use me to convince her..."

Standing at the top of the steps and hidden in the dark shadows of our foyer, Katherine waltzed into the room with a mischievous smirk on her face.

"Katherine?"

"The one and only...sort of. And to be honest, if I were Lauren I wouldn't come back for either of you."

"What makes you say that?" I asked.

Giving me a serious look with her brows raised, I could already hear the words coming out of her mouth.

"You choose Elena, every single time. At the end of the day, you'll save Elena first and not her, though she doesn't want to be saved." Katherine added.

"She's our sister, you have no idea what she wants."

"Klaus, that's for sure. And maybe someone who actually cares for her."

"Wow. Look who went and got bold. What spell did you ask Lauren to put on you this time?" Damon said sarcastically.

"Yeah, those are big words for someone in hiding. Last time I checked, wasn't Klaus plotting your eternal demise?"

"Well, it doesn't matter anymore, because Klaus is gone. And our girl is here..." She smiled, pouring herself a glass.

"Wait. What do you mean he's gone?"

"Let's just say that werewolf girl, Hayley turned out to be just the thing we needed to get Klaus out of our lives..."

Looking at each other, Damon and I looked confused for a minute.

"What's with the face?" Katherine hissed.

"Lauren's not here..."

"Klaus wouldn't take Lauren with him if they're gonna meet Hayley?"

"And why would Klaus take Lauren back to her hunting ground like this?" I asked, seeing Katherine's face disappear.

"What?"

"You didn't know?" I asked.

"She called us this morning, said she stopped by to get some clothes and a book for the ride. She said something about a witch wanting to kill Klaus, and he asked her to come."
