Standing under the running water, it pours down over my heads, massaging down the nape of my neck before dripping at my sides, as my mind fades into the fogginess from the hot water. My eyes fell closed over, letting my conscious flip through my memories like clips from a movie.

'Hey, Lauren.' Stefan said from the other side of the door.

"In the shower."

'Sorry, but Elena called...asked if you can pass by her house.'

"Why can't you do it?" I asked.

'I asked, and she hung up...then sent a message that she doesn't want to talk. Can you go, please?'

Turning the water off, I flicked the remaining water on my skin before stepping on the ceramic floor, followed by the smell of melons and cucumbers from my shampoo.

"This better be important." I sighed, opening the door to find Stefan leaning on the door.

"Thank you...could you text me after? I know she doesn't want to talk but at least I know what's going on."

"Yeah, I will."

Tossing on an old gray t-shirt and a blue zippered skirt, I hear my phone ringing from Stefan's back pocket.

"Hello?" I asked, reaching into his pants.

'Are you still coming over?' Elena asked.

"Yeah, I just got out of the shower, I'll be there in a few minutes."

'Okay...hurry, please.'

Hanging up first, I looked at Stefan, who began to grow those worried eyes of his, slowly creep over to the door.

"Don't! She said she doesn't want you there."

"But maybe I can help-"

"I'm a witch and a vampire. What more help could she want?" I blurted out, struggling to put on my boots.

"I said that I'd call you, and I will. For now, just chill the hell out, drink a bit, and wait until I call you, okay."

Grabbing my jacket and keys from my vanity, I flew down the stairs and out the door where my car was parked before leaving Stefan behind.

Casually pulling up to Elena's, I stepped out the smell the fresh scent of blood coming from the trash can that was filled with towels and other things.

"Elena?" I said aloud, followed by her swinging her door open.

"Hurry, please."

Rushing inside, I looked around with a panicked look on my face until I noticed two pairs of feet hanging at the edge of the couch.

"Jeremy?"

"I can't believe this happened?" Elena cried softly.

"What happened?"

Peaking over the couch, Jeremy laid their dead while the side of his neck was still partially bleeding.

"What am I going to say to him?" She blurted out.

"Where's his ring?"

"He was wearing it when I stabbed him."

"Okay...um, Stefan should honestly be here-"

"I don't want to talk to him. He's been lying to me and hiding things from me. He compelled Jeremy to forget God knows what."

"In all fairness, I think you killing him trumps that." I sighed.
