Sitting on the kitchen counter, I peeled carrots as my mom was preparing lunch on the stove when my father, James, and Sebastian come running back into the house.

"Wow! That was a good run boys, wasn't it?" My father sighed.

"If you can make running up and down the river as much fun as watching today's game, then sure."

Throwing their shoes into a basket near the door both of my brothers grabbed something to drink from the fridge as I tossed the carrots into the sink for the water to wash.

"When did you learn to cook?" James asked me.

"I didn't. I watched our cook prepare our food every day for a year while I sat on the counter. He was French, and mom doesn't like snails." I chuckled.

"I still don't understand how people can enjoy that." She blurted out.

"It's a delicacy, it takes like butter."

Hearing my phone vibrate beside me, I set down the carrot and peeler to find Tyler's name pop on my front screen.

"Don't a judge a book by its cover, mother. You hated vampires, and look at you now...your vampire daughter is helping you cook lunch in peace. Right, Scar?" Sebastian said but I was so consumed with texting Tyler that I completely forgot what he asked me.

"Scar?"

"Scarlett, what's going on?" My father asked me.

"Oh, um...nothing. I just forgot I have to be somewhere, I'll be back later." I blurted out, running back up to my room.

Changing out of my clothes, I pull down a cream turtleneck sweater over my head and zip up some black pants when Elle walks through my doorframe.

"Where are we going to now?" She asked.

"Tyler's in town...and Klaus can't know. Neither can Elijah, so can you-"

"Lie. Sure, what are sisters for." She smiled.

"Thank you."

Sliding on my boots, I grabbed my leather jacket from my vanity chair and headed downstairs with Elle behind me.

"Be careful, Scarlett!" I hear my mom yell from the kitchen.

"I will!"

Walking through the trees, I glanced around me as I made my way to the old Lockwood cellar. The sound of my shoes rustling on the leaves as I stepped over broken branches and twigs echoed down towards the stairs.

Standing quietly, I took in the air around me when I smelled cologne brushing against the nape of my neck.

"Hi," I whispered as I turned back around to face Tyler who was standing at the other side of the stairs.

"...You have no idea how much I've missed you." He said before striding his way over to me.

His hands wrapped themselves around my waist as his lips pressed against mine and my hands grabbed the sides of his cheeks. But the weirdest part was when our lips came into contact, it sent shivers down my back and the taste of mint gave a different vibe.

Slowly, we made our way down to the cellar with our lips still connected, I push the metal door open. Tyler's hands traveling up my sweater pulling my jacket off my shoulders, I grab his shirt from the bottom and lifted up watching as his body flexed underneath.

Taking a moment to look at each other, we smiled at each other before he rested his hand below my ear, pulling my lips closer to his.
