Standing in the middle of the hallway, I watched as some of Sarah's friends lit candles in front of her locker. Bears and flowers were leaning up against the wall, as picture frames of here were taped.

"Lauren," Tyler said.

"Hey. How are you doing?" I asked him.

"Not good."

"How's your mom? Caroline said she was pretty freaked out about everything that happened with Sarah." I whispered.

"How did you know?" He asked.

"What do you mean?"

"About me. How did you know?"

"Know what? That you were upset?" I whispered, glancing at the other people around us.

"That's not what I'm talking about."

"Look, like your mom said, it was an accident. Okay? I've gotta run. Just don't blame yourself, Tyler." I said, before heading down the hall to my next class.

A FEW HOURS LATER.

Pushing the double doors open, I headed out of the school through the back parking lot, where most of the students hung out and played basketball in the street.

"Hey, Chris," I said to one of my friends, before taking a left near the school buses.

'We're in the middle of a game!' I heard a guy yell as I looked for my keys.

"Hey," I said when I noticed Tyler standing in front of me.

"Um, are...you okay?" I asked, seeing a sinister look in his eye.

"You lied to me earlier. Why?"

"Look. Tyler...I think that you misunderstood me at the party. I get it. It was traumatic-"

"You're lying." He blurted out.

"Nope. But I'm late." I said making my way past him when he grips his hand on my arm.

Lifting my hand up, I twist his, bending him forward.

"Ugh."

Throwing him on the floor, he scatters to get up.

"How did you...You're stronger than me?"

"Please. That was nothing, it was self-defense."

"Listen, if you know something, you gotta tell me, because I can't handle this." He blurted out.

"I'm sorry, Tyler. But I think you're still in shock over Sarah dying. And it's understandable."

Watching him close the distance between us, his jaw clench down tightly, and the sound of his breath hitches.

Walking away, it just a second later when he kicks a trash can in the air, slamming it against a black car and sounding off the alarm.

"Whoa..."

"Jesus." People gasped.

Glancing at him as he looks up at me with a shy face, he strides out of the area, leaving me alone behind the buses.

Stepping out of the car, I held the phone to the side of my ear and I grabbed my bag out from the trunk with my art supplies.

"Okay, just call me if you need anything. I'll keep an eye out for Jeremy and Bonnie for the meantime."

'We're almost there. It won't take long'

"Be careful. The both of you. We have no idea who these people are, I don't want to send out an army of vampires looking out for you." I hissed, opening the front door wide open.
