"I can confirm, that a 12-foot mountain Lion attacked a hunter and was subsequently shot and killed. The hunter is in stable condition." I heard coming from the TV.

Turning my head, I looked out into the hallway before getting up from my bed and heading into Stefan's room where he sat in his desk hearing the news.

"I repeat the animal that terrorized Mystic Falls, is dead."

"Are they serious with this crap?" I whispered, leaning on the door frame.

"He covered his tracks, Lauren. What would you expect him to do?"

"Oh, I don't know...leave. He's been terrorizing us for 145 years, I'm surprised he hasn't gotten bored already?" I blurted out.

"He wants me dead because for what I did to Katherine...and he wants you dead because-"

"I exist," I said, sitting down at the edge of his bed.

"He probably has more than that reason exactly."

"Okay...name one." I sighed, crossing my arms.

Staring back at each other, Stefan's eyes couldn't help but gaze away and stare down at the floor.

"That's what I thought."

Hearing my phone ring from the first floor, I groaned and jumped down to find Damon already answering the call.

"Damon!"

"Yes, this is Damon Salvatore, Lauren's better looking older brother...Oh! Matt Donavan. Yeah...she's right here." He said, handing me the phone with an annoying face.

"Hey, Matt."

"Hey, Lauren...What's up?"

"Um, nothing just the usual...trying to not annoy my older brother's, which is impossible."

"Well, not everyone's brother is Damon Salvatore."

"What about Stefan?" I asked as I closed the attic door.

"He's the good brother...a lot of people have good brother's."

"Yeah. I guess you can say that."

Sitting down on the window crook beside my paintings, I grabbed a random pillow from the corner and brought it close to my chest.

"So...I was wondering...Do you have a date to the Founder's ball tonight?"

"Founder's ball? They still have those?"

Hearing his breath coming through the phone, there was a slight chuckle afterward.

"Yeah?"

"Sorry, Salvatore's don't get invited to the Founder's ball anymore, it's a long story."

"Oh, then...will you be my date?" He asked nervously.

"Um..."Looking back at the door, I hurried over to the sink near the dark corner in the room and turned on the water.

"Yeah, I'd love to."

"Great, I'll pick you up around 6:30? Where do you live?"

"The old Salvatore house, near the backroads."

"Okay, I'll see you at 6:30."

"See you," I whispered before I end the call.

Turning off the water, I looked at the wall in front of me while my eyes fluttered. I felt someone standing behind me, their burning stare radiated heat down my back.
