Elena's POV
Finishing the 3-hour drive outside of New York to the other small towns out of states, Rebekah, who had been following us since we left Mystic Falls with Lauren, tagged along for the ride. Damon was left behind after I managed to get my hands on the cheat sheet he made to find Katherine, along with other details about his friend.
Now wandering the small little town where Katherine compelled every last one of the 3,000 and plus people to forget all about her unless she was talking to them herself, which led me to the local post office.
"Hey, excuse me. Um...did I get any mail today?" I asked one of the post officers loading the truck.
"What happened to your hair?"
"...I cut it," I mumbled nervously, looking over at Rebekah.
"In the last two minutes?"
"I was here two minutes ago?"
Alert, Rebekah, and I started to look around at the nearby cars and people walking around.
"Are you feeling okay, Ms. Pirece?" He asked.
"Yeah. I'm...I'm fine. Um, thanks."
Excusing himself, he turned back to work as I leaned in closer to Rebekah.
"She was here two minutes ago, that means that she can't be that far. How about you check inside? I'll look in the parking lot."
"Okay."
Splitting up, the two of us hurried through the cars and trucks, keeping an eye on anything that looked or sounded like Katherine. Heading back down the way we came, I caught a glimpse of a dark brunette sitting inside of a black car near the entrance.
Nervously, I hid behind the post trucks when I looked back and saw that the girl in the car wasn't Katherine. That was until I was slammed up against the truck by Katherine herself.
"I'm impressed. I never thought you would find me here."
Squeezing my throat, she held on tighter as I push back in resistance.
"Oh, well. It's a beautiful place to die."
And just when I could hear the crackling sound of my head against the window, Rebekah appeared, throwing Katherine down onto the ground.
"I couldn't agree more." She sighed.
"...you've chosen a beautiful place to die."

Sitting at one of the local diners in town, we picked a booth near the middle of the room. Letting Rebekah have her fun with annoying Katherine, she took the pleasure of sitting next to her.
"Where's the cure?" I hissed, staring at Katherine as she sat in front of me.
"What, no 'I'm here to avenge my annoying little brother' speech?"
"People die. We move on."
Taking a sip of my coffee, I glared at her as her eyes gazed freely at me.
"Huh...and here I thought Lauren was bluffing. You did turn your humanity switch off...Sad for the boys, though. Their special snowflake of human frailty...gone." Katherine sighed, cracking a smile.
"Well...since we're gonna be here a while, I'm gonna go grab some menus-"
But just as she started nearing the edge of her seat, Rebekah came in stabbing a butter knife in between her hand, pinning her deep into the table.
